"Your father..?" I asked, lost at where she was going.

"Yes! My evil, career-ruining father who has no sense of kindness!" She screamed with such a shrill sense of hatred that I stumbled backwards.

"What did your father do?" I questioned.

"Well... Umm... Basically, he tried to ruin your career. He owns MindTravel...." She said.

I cut her off.

"He owns MindTravel?! Why didn't you tell me earlier?! If you had, we could have gotten him to fix all this!" I scream, suddenly angry.

"I didn't tell you because I didn't remember. Until now. You see, I haven't met him before. He left when my mom was pregnant and never came back." She explains.

I think about this for a moment.

"Where are headquarters located?" I ask.

"Uhh, Florida."

"Alright. Follow me." I said.

She reluctantly stood up and followed me outside.

I opened the purse that was slung over my shoulder and pulled out a car key.

When I clicked the button, my black Maserati's headlights flashed.

I walked to the drivers side and opened the car door, then sat down on the seat. As I closed the door, I noticed that Violet hadn't gotten in the car yet.

"Get in. I don't know how much time we have." I said.

She contemplated for a brief moment before hopping into the passenger seat.

I started the car, then took off. We started down the empty city street, and after a large collection of turns, we reached a freeway. There was a sign that read "southbound; this way." Figuring that Florida was in the Southern part of our country, I took that freeway, and pressed down on the gas pedal.

We had to be going close to ninety miles an hour when Violet finally spoke up.

"Where are we going...?"

"Florida." I responded.

"That will take days!" She complained.

"Well, I would offer to take the jet, but my pilot quit. So I figure if we drive fast, we will get there sooner." I explained.

Violet nodded her head in agreement, then reached down and turned the radio on.

The song was just starting, and Violet squealed.

I recognized the tune, but I couldn't remember what song it was.

Then it hit me.

That's me.

It's my song.

I squealed.

"That's me! That's my song!" I screamed, managing to keep control of the car.

"Uh, yeah. That's you. You're on the radio all the time." Violet responded.

I smiled wide. That smile quickly faded away she the radio glitched out into a static noise.

Suddenly, a male voice sounded though the speakers, replacing the static.

"Attention all citizens, this is Mathew Derount, the founder of MindTravel. I would like to publicly announce that we have made some big changes, and the simulation experiences are now 38% more realistic. Please go to the nearest MindTravel lab to book your next meeting. Thank you, have a nice day."

After the message, the static went off again and then my song resumed.

Violet looked panicked.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

Violet made eye contact with me, her eyes were filled with fear.

Then she broke my stare and looked back at the road, still keeping her eyes wide.

"Violet?" I asked, louder this time.

She didn't answer me.

"Violet! What's wrong?!" I screamed.

She continued to look straight ahead, then, very quietly, she said. "He's up to something. And it's not going to be good."
