Violet

I stood there, clearly frustrated with my "Dad."

I don't know what he did to my mom, but I'm not entirely sure that I want to know.

All I know is that he left my mom in the middle of the night, and that he brainwashed Taylor and I.

He didn't let us out of the room, instead he continued to stare us down.

I could tell my mom wanted to speak up, but Justin was holding her back.

Suddenly, she took a step forward, holding out a piece of folded paper to Taylor.

"Here's my new phone number. Justin says that you guys can go back to the lab, but I have  to check in on you guys and refill your injections every hour. You'll need this," Selena said.

Taylor grabbed the paper with Selena's number on it.

"Thanks," Taylor said.

Justin let us out and locked us into the laboratory.

"See you in an hour," my mother said blankly.

She sounded nervous.

We were standing alone in the lab, with nothing to do for what seemed like ages before Selena finally walked in.

She held a single finger up to her lips, motioning for us to be quiet. She gestured us over to her.

We obliged and walked towards her.

"He's got the whole place wire-tapped, don't say anything," she said in a soft whisper.

She went over to a little electrical box on the wall and opened it, then clicked a few buttons.

"There," she said. "Now the cameras and microphones are off."

We stood there for a moment, waiting for her to tell us what to do.

"Do you still have that paper I gave you?" She asked to Taylor.

Taylor held up the folded paper in response.

"Don't open it. Not yet."

"Okay..." Taylor said, unsure of why she couldn't look at Selena's phone number.

Suddenly, we heard a loud crash, then yelling.

It sounded like Justin.

He burst into the room and grabbed Selena's wrist, yanking her to him.

"How dare you turn the cameras off!" He screamed at her.

Her hand was turning blue because he was gripping her wrist so hard.

She whimpered.

"I should have you executed!" He screamed again.

Selena looked towards us.

"Any last words to your friends?" He said with a smirk. "You might not be seeing them for a while."

She nodded.

"Open the paper," was all she said.

Justin laughed, and claimed that was a waste of a goodbye.

She smirked at us as well, then waved as he shoved her out of the room.

I couldn't bear to imagine what he might do to her.

Taylor cautiously opened the paper.

It was a map, with a red line drawn from the lab to a small corridor.

Written underneath the path drawn in marker was one word.

"RUN."
