Chapter 27: the truth

-Cassandra's pov-
At class, I noticed that Belle wasn't there. When I saw the date on the board, I tensed. It's been 4 years since that day. I wasn't there when it happened, but Belle was. She saw our parents killed in front of her.
When class school was over and we were at the gate, Yuki asked," Where's Belle?" "She's in her dorm," I answered seriously. "What's wrong?" Yuki asked. She could tell that something was wrong. I was nervous about sundown. How would everyone react? More importantly, how would Zero react?
-Belle's pov-
Damn damn damn. Sundown is coming. I need to hide. I don't want everyone to know. I don't want them to find out my true identity. I got up out of bed and blocked up the door with various items of furniture. I looked out at the window and saw the night class heading to the class rooms, even better, the sun was barely a sliver. I shut the curtains and turned off all of the lights. I got inside of the special box I had made in the wall and locked the door. Now no one could see me if they got in. I spent 3 days building this box into the wall. I could feel my aura appearing. My dog ears grew out of my head, but something else happened. I- someone banged on the door. I could tell it was some of the night class, The Headmaster, Yuki, and Zero. They could all feel my strange, but familiar aura. I could hear the door being beat on as they called my name.
The door eventually broke, and everyone was filling my room looking for me. I could tell that Cassandra was also here. She was the only one still alive who knows my other secret besides me being half dog demon.
I could hear the outer door to the box opening. I could hear everyone shouting. The box opened and Yuki was looking in at me. "Oh my god," she whispered. She saw my dog ears, and white hair. "Belle?" She asked. A tear fell down my cheek. I crawled out of the box. "I guess the secret's out," I said. Cassandra took off her earring and her hair turned white and her dog ears popped out her head. Everyone gasped. "Why do you have dog ears?" Ichijo asked. "We're half dog demons," Cassandra said. "Zero, please don't hate me," I said with another tear. "Why would I hate you?" He asked. "She's half pureblood," Kaname answered. Zero went into shock. "I'm not alone, Yuki's secretly pureblood," I whispered quietly enough for only the vampires to hear. "My dad was a dog demon that was a vampire hunter, and my mom was a pureblood. When they met, they fell in love," I explained. "The hunters and the vampires thought they were an abomination, and killed them. They wanted to kill me but they couldn't find me, and Cassandra was out of town for a birthday party at the time."
Zero was staring at me and his pupils were tiny. He was slowly backing away from me. He looked at Yuki and back to me. Both of his sisters were pureblood vampires, his worst nightmare. I crying. "It isn't my fault Zero," I whispered. My ears were flat on my head in shame. "Didn't you notice that on this date, I disappeared for the day?" I questioned. "Every year on this day since my parents died, my earrings loose power and recharge at night." The headmaster was looking at the wall. "I hate what I am, but I turned Aido human for a while with my blood." I pulled out a vile with my blood in it and threw it at Zero. "If you want to be human, drink this." I walked out of the room and disappeared from the sight of all of the people. I ran as far and fast as I could, and with me being a pureblood and half dog demon, that was pretty fast. I went to a tree and cried until I had no tears left. I was alone in a world without Zero. I had betrayed him. I don't deserve his love. I remembered the time he hugged me about a day or two ago and said," I love you." I then I said," I love you too." We both then kissed.We were happy at that time, and I had betrayed him. I truly hated myself for that.
