Crushing On A Genius

Okay, so, here is one thing that I'm completely sure of: I have a ridiculously crazy, huge, giant, super, ultra, mega crush on Chase Davenport. I just can't help myself! He's cute and sweet and smart! He's like, my dream guy! And, unlike how most girls act with their crush, I don't usually get nervous when I'm around him. In fact, I might even be overly confident. I also often times find myself flirting with him. Calling him names like, "Little Genius," and "Cutie Pie," and "Smart Cookie."

I start talking with Bree during lunch break and we strike up a conversation, but I am soon distracted when I hear Chase mumbling to himself. I look at him. He is working on a math problem. I smile, stare at him longingly and give a dreamy sigh. "Isn't Chase the most adorable thing when he acts all geniusy," I ask. I am snapped out of dreamland when I hear Bree give a dramatic gasp. "What's wrong," I ask, snapping my head back to face her. "Ugh, this can't be happening," Bree groans. "What," I ask, confused.

"You cannot be crushing on Chase," she says. "That dork genius is my brother!" "I think you mean adorkable," I correct. "No, I mean dork," she says. I roll my eyes, "Seriously, Bree. What's so bad about me liking your brother?" "Everything," she booms. "Everything is bad about it!" I look at her, confused. She sighs, "Look, I finally have a girl around here, but I don't want her to be so obsessed with my brother that she doesn't make time for me." I give her a reassuring smile and hold her hands. "Don't worry," I say, softly. "We're totally gonna be BFFs. I won't let my crush get in the way of that, even if he is your brother."

She smiles back, "Okay. I guess I'm just a little repulsed at the fact that my friend has a crush on my brother, but I'll eventually get over it. Hopefully." I chuckle at this. I look over at Chase, who is engaged in some kind of complicated algebra problem, barely even touching his food. This may be my only chance to talk to him. I look back over to Bree with a slightly guilty expression. She smiles. "It's okay, go talk to him," she says, as if she read my mind. I smile back at her and turn to look at Chase, who is still working on that Algebra problem. I take a quick, deep breath. I get up and walk over to Chase. He doesn't notice me when I get there because he is still completely engaged in his Algebra work, so I decide to subtly let him know that I am there.

"Hey, little genius," I say, cheerfully. His head snaps up and he looks surprised. "Oh, uh, hey...Lyrica," he says, nervously. "Are you talking to me?" "Of course," I say, sitting down next to him. "Who else would I be talking to?" He blushes a little, "Oh, I don't know. Someone worthy of your attention?" "Oh, don't be silly," I say, patting his arm. "You're more than worthy of my attention." His blush deepens, turning from bright pink to bright red. This makes me giggle. "What," he asks. I can tell that he's embarresed. I smile brightly. "Oh, nothing," I say, patting his head. "You're just too cute, little genius." He's really blushing now. His cheeks are a very bright, rosey red and I can tell that he is sweating a little. "Oh, well, uh...thanks," he says, shyly. I shrug, "Well, it's true."

This time, he smiles through his blush. I get up, smile brightly, and wave, "Bye, little genius." He waves back shyly. "Bye," he says, quietly. I smile at him once more and skip back over to Bree. I sit down on the seat in front of her and smile. "So," she asks, reluctantly. "How did it go?" I give a dreamy sigh, "Wonderful! I think we're making great progress." I look back over at Chase, who I know realize has been staring at me. I smile at him brightly and wave. He gives a goofy smile and leans on a rack of uniforms. The rack ends up falling over, making a lot of noise and scattering uniforms everywhere.

I giggle while everyone else looks at him with annoyed expressions. I hear Bree's voice behind me. "I honestly don't know what you see in him," she says, sounded slightly disgusted and a little surprised. I give a dreamy sigh, "Oh, Bree. You don't even know the half of it."
