Chase screams and sobs and crawls over to me, grabbing my leg. "You are my sunshine," he screams, still speaking in Nursery Rhyme. "Please don't take my sunshine away!" I understand what he is trying to tell me. He is saying that I am his sunshine and is begging me not to give up my bionics. "I'm sorry, Chase," I say, trying not to cry. "I have to. It's the only way to keep you safe." Tears are streaming down his cheeks now. "You are my sunshine," he screams again. "And you're mine," I say, now crying. "But your sunshine's light is going to burn out. It's for the best." He shakes his head vigorously and screams You Are My Sunshine again.

I bend down to pry his fingers off my leg, but it is impossible. He is too strong for me. In order for me to give up my bionics, I am going to have to find a way to physically block him from me. I use my bionics to set up a force field around him just as I free my leg from his grip. He starts screaming and banging on the force field, but his screams are muffled because of the force field. "Let's get this show on the road," my father growls. "Fine," I say, trying to keep my voice steady. Ash smirks and walks toward me. When he stops, I am now looking up at him. "Brace yourself," he says. "You might not survive."

I quickly make a long list in my head of all the people that I care about, and my last words before my father takes my powers are, "Chase, I love you!" Then I feel it. It feels like a bunch of bullets and knives are shooting through my body. I scream, and shriek, and sob. My vision blurs, but I can see my bionic chip flying out of my neck and into my father's hand as I drop to the floor. "My sunshine," Chase sobs. "Come back, sunshine!" He bangs on the force field again. I suddenly realize that I can't free him because I don't have my bionics anymore. I turn to Ash. "Free him, Father," I demand. He smirks, "Very well." He shoots something at the force field, causing it to shatter.

Chase covers his ears and squeezes his eyes shut at the noise. He runs over to me and bends down to my level. "Sunshine," he screams. "Princess, get up!" I suddenly realize that Chase just called me Princess. That is what he used to call me all the time! He's getting better! I smile at him and touch his cheek. Then I turn my attention toward Ash, who, to my surprise, is shining bright with flame and light. "Yes," he yells. "YES! I NOW HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE ALL BIONICS BOW TO MY WILL!!!" "Now," I say. "Free my family." He smirks, "As you wish, darling." With a swipe of his hand, Adam, Bree, Leo, Daddy Douglas, Uncle Donny, Auntie Tasha, and the students, all unfreeze.

"Lyrica," Bree cries, running over to me, followed by everyone else. "What happened," Daddy asks. "He took my sunshine away," Chase sobs. "The itsy bitsy spider took my sunshine away!" Everyone looks at him, confused. Bree turns to Leo. "What did he say," she asks. Leo scoffs, "Do I look like I speak Nursery Rhyme?" "He-he's saying-th-that-my father...t-took my bionics and almost k-killed me," I gasp through the excruciating pain. "That monster," my adoptive father, Douglas, screams. "How dare he do that to my daughter!?" "I let him," I say. Everyone gasps. "Why," Bree cries. "Because he was going to kill Chase if I didn't," I reply, gasping. Auntie Tasha gives a slight gasp. Suddenly, Chase takes me in his arms and hugs me tightly. "Sunshine," he sobs. "You are my sunshine!"

I cringe because the hug is a little too tight for me, given the pain I'm in right now. I pat him on the back. "It's okay, Little Genius," I whisper. "I'll be fine." "Lyrica, you need to get some rest while we find a way cure you," says Uncle Donny. "You can't," I gasp. "He took my chip. That's what is causing me to be like this. It would be too difficult for Daddy to create another one." "It doesn't matter," Daddy says. "I'll do whatever it takes to cure you. You're my daughter." I smile. "Get some rest," says Uncle Donny. Before I know it, I am up off the ground in Chase's arms.

"What's he doing," Daddy asks, as Chase carries me away. "It's okay," says Uncle Donny. "He's going to take good care of your daughter. "But he's deranged," says Daddy. "Trust me, I know my son," says Uncle Donny. "And you should know him, too. You're his birth father. Have some faith in him, Douglas." Daddy sighs, "Okay." Chase carries me to his room and lays me down on his bed. Then he crawls in bed next to me and wraps his arms around me. "You are my sunshine," he says. "I will protect my sunshine. I love you, my sunshine." I smile and snuggle up closer to Chase, "I love you, too, Little Genius."
