"If you won't join me, then I guess you'll get to join your precious boyfriend in the adventures of torture," Ash says, menacingly. He turns his back and I see tons of horrifying, scary tools, such as knives and whips, on his work table. That's when it hits me. Every single, horrifyingly painful tool that my father owns, was used on Chase. I squeeze my eyes shut and try not to think of what my father did to Chase, failing miserably. Tears stream down my cheeks and I start to weep. "Oh, get over yourself, crybaby," says Ash. Chase starts singing again:

Rock a bye, baby
In the treetop.
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall.
And down will come baby
Cradle and all.

I tune him out and try to think of a way to get both of us out of here. Then I suddenly remember that I have a hidden ability! I can use my hypnotic voice to trick my father into letting Chase and I go free! It's the perfect plan! I focus really hard and sing, "Oh, father." He turns around, his eyes flashing blue. "It's working," I think. "Do you think you could do Chase and I a favor and let us out of here," I ask. He blinks once and his eyes are back to their original color. "Nice try, but that won't work on me," he says. "What," I ask, baffled. "But-but how- what- why?" "I have all of the same special abilities as you, so I can't be affected by them," he says. My blood boils with anger and fury towards my father as I try to ignore Chase, who is singing another nursery rhyme:

The itsy bitsy spider
Climbed up the water spout.
Down came the rain and
Washed the spider out
In came the darkness
And terrorized the town
And the itsy bitsy spider
Had got his way again.

I suddenly realize that Chase changed the words to the nursery rhyme. Why? What do they mean? I don't have time to think about that, though. I need to figure out a way to get out of here with Chase. I look at Ash, who has his back turned, and then Chase, who is still tunelessly singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider. I tap my fingers on my pocket and I feel something in it. I look over to Ash, who is not paying Chase and I any attention. Then I stick my fingers in my pocket and pull out a beret. "Eh, good enough," I think. I stick the tip of the beret into the lock on my left wrist and the cuff clicks open. "Score," I think. I use my left hand to free my right hand. "I'm free," I think. "I'm free!" I quietly step off the bed and start to unlock Chase's left cuff. His eyes dart over to Ash and he starts to panic. "What's wrong," I ask, softly, as I unlock his right cuff. He starts to sing another nursery rhyme in a deranged, panicky voice:

Ring around the rosey
Pocket full of posies.
Ashes, ashes
We all fall down.
Ring around the rosey
What do you suppose we
Can do to fight the darkness
In which we drown?

Okay, he is definitely trying to tell me something, but I can't figure out what it is. For now, I try to soothe him so we can escape without being noticed. "Yes, that's very nice," I say, softly. "That is one of my favorite nursery rhymes." He shakes his head vigorously and starts singing again, but this time, quicker:
