I look around, seeing if there is anything that I could possibly do or help with so that Uncle Donny will let me stay bionic. I see Uncle Donny working on his computer and I skip over to him. "Hey, Uncle Donny," I say, cheerfully. "Hello, Lyrica," he says, unamused. I lick my lips nervously. Then I get an idea. I can trick him into letting me keep my bionics by flattering him! I mean, he's really self-absorbed. I'm sure that if I try hard enough, I can convince him to let me keep my bionics.
"You know," I say. "I never realized that the most brilliant mastermind in the universe would also turn out to be the most heroic and handsome." He scoffs, "Listen, Lyrica, I'm flattered, but I know what you're trying to do, and I am not gonna let you keep your bionics. It's for your own good." I stomp my foot, cross my arms, and pout. Then I get another crazy idea and I smirk. "How about I sing you a song, Uncle Donny," I ask. He shakes his head, "Lyrica-" I tune him out, look deep into his eyes, and start singing. He looks stunned, "Lyrica, your eyes are glowing blue!"
I am slightly frightened at this comment, but I keep singing, and Donny gets quieter and quieter. His eyes glow blue for a short second. When I am finished singing, I look at him and smirk. "So," I ask. "How do you feel? Do you feel like letting me keep my bionics?" Much to my surprise, he nods his head yes very slowly. This isn't enough. I need proof just in case he changes his mind. I take out my cell phone and start recording. "What did you say, Uncle Donny," I ask into the microphone.
I hold my phone close to Uncle Donny's mouth and he replies, in an odd, zombie-like tone, "Yes, Lyrica. You may keep your bionics." I turn my phone off and Uncle Donny's eyes go back to their original color. He starts blinking rapidly. I know that I just did something, but I have no idea what it was or how I did it. I hear Daddy's voice behind me. "Lyrica," he says, sternly. "Uh oh," I think. If he knows what I just did, I'll be grounded for life! He raises his index finger and motions for me to come forward. I fearfully obey and follow him into an abandoned room. He stops, crosses his arms, and looks at me with an angry expression. I gulp nervously.
"What did you just do," he asks, trying to keep his voice steady. "I-I just-I don't know," I stutter. "I was trying to persuade him into letting me keep my bionics." "Well, be careful," says Daddy. "If you're trying to trick someone, your hidden ability will act up." My eyes widen at hearing this and Daddy suddenly looks worried. He smiles nervously, "Oh, uh, did I forget to mention that I put a hidden ability in your chip that makes your voice so mesmerizing when you need it to be that causes anyone to do whatever you want them to do?" My mouth drops open and I smile widely. Daddy shakes his head. He leans in to whisper into my ear, "Listen, if you want this plan to work, you need to be subtle about it. Not obvious, especially now that you have discovered your hidden ability." I nod.
This is going to be hard. I'm not good at keeping secrets, and having to keep another one is practically gonna make me explode. After Daddy and I finish talking, I decide to delete Uncle Donny's voice off my phone and actually see if I can help out around the academy. I end up doing 'housework,' by tidying up the academy. As I mop the floors, I begin to think of Chase, and I also begin to sing, which is what I always do when I'm bored. The song I sing is a classic Disney song called, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," which reminds me of Chase.
Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings?
The world for once
In perfect harmony
Love is where they areWhen I finish singing, I am startled by an ironically calming voice. "That was...beautiful, Lyrica," it says. I turn around to see Chase leaning on the wall, staring at me. I feel relief at realizing that I can't mesmerize someone with my hidden ability unless I try, or else, Chase's eyes would have glowed green and he would be under my control right now. "Oh, well, uh, thank you...Chase," I say, shyly. He smiles and stares at me. I smile and stare back. Chase's staring is most likely unintentional.
My staring, however, is intentional. I soon get lost in his dreamy brown eyes, but I am snapped back into reality when he says, "You really do have a beautiful voice." I smile and feel a slight blush coming on. We stay in that position, gazing into each other's eyes, and as we do that, we also talk. "So, how is the plan coming along," Chase asks. "Good," I reply. "I'm making some progress." He smiles and nods. I am suddenly unable to contain my excitement any longer. I smile and lower my voice to a whisper, "Chase?" He looks perplexed, "Yeah?" I move closer to him. "Can you keep a secret," I ask. He nods.
I make my whisper even lower as I say, "I have a hidden ability." His eyes widen, "Huh?" "Yup," I say, proudly. "Douglas had already implanted it in my chip." "Well, what is it," Chase asks. "Closer," I whisper. He leans in. I turn my head to whisper in his ear and we're so close that my lips end up touching his earlobe, "I have the ability to mesmerize people with my singing voice and make them do what I please." "Whoa," he whispers. "Cool!" I move away from him so that we're not practically glued to each other and smile excitedly. I am also planning on telling Bree and Leo about my hidden ability, and possibly Adam. I mean, bless his heart, he's as dumb as dirt, and I mean that in a lovable way, though I would never say it out loud. As dumb as he is, he's still my friend.
"Lyrica, may I call you 'Princess,'" Chase asks. I feel myself blushing, but at the same time, my smile is so wide that it could knock West and East out of their places. I can hardly contain my excitement as I say, "Y-y-y-yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!" "So that's a 'yes,' then," Chase asks. "Of course, Little Genius," I reply, gleefully. He smiles brightly and we spend a few more hours talking as he helps me clean up, which he insisted he should do. Later, when Chase and I are finished cleaning, I find Adam, Bree, and Leo, and bring them all into my room to tell them about my hidden ability, and their reactions are quite pleasant. Bree grabs me by the hands and starts jumping up and down singing, "Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay!" I do the same thing. "Congratulations, Lyrica," says Leo, once Bree and I finish going bonkers. "This new ability of yours is gonna be awesome!" "Yeah," Adam agrees. "Ooh! Can you mesmerize Taylor Swift into giving a concert at the Bionic Academy?" I give Adam a confused look. "Sorry, Adam, but I don't think that's possible," I say, smiling politely.
"Aww," he whines, folding his arms. I chuckle. "So, how is the plan going," Bree whispers. "It's going well," I whisper back. "That's good," Leo chimes in, also whispering. Bree and I nod. "Why are we whispering," Adam whispers so loudly that the people in the other room probably heard him. At this, Leo, Bree and I burst into a fit of laughter. "Hey," Adam yells. "What's so funny!?"
