Avery’s P.O.V.

Since the students are not allowed to be back in our respected dorm rooms until midnight, Jake and I went somewhere else. We were on the road for what it felt like an hour, then he finally pulled up at a frozen yogurt store.

“We’re here,” he announced.

He immediately got out of his Range Rover and rushed to the passenger’s side to open my door. He closed it too when I stepped out of the car. What a gentleman. Josh never does that to me.

“Thanks, “I said. “You really need to do that, huh?”

“Duh. I respect girls, not like that cunt you used to date,” he answered. Well, yeah, he’s got a point. Jake Flynn had outsmarted me for the second time this day.

“Don’t you dare remind me that I dated that man whore,” I warned him.

He raised his hands defensively and apologized. It was only past nine in the evening, and the party might end up around one or two. We still have time to do whatever we want. And the thing that sucked was that I totally forgot that I left my stuff in my ex-boyfriend’s car,  and I needed my hoodie in case it gets colder . Great.

I texted Amber saying: Hey. Can you do me a favor?

Since Amber was a fast texter, she texted back in less than a minute saying: What is it? And where are you?

Can you get my stuff in Josh’s car? I completely forgot about it, I texted. I also told her through text that Jake and I are an hour away from Venice, which is farther from the school and the dorms.

She texted: He already handed your stuff to me. It’s in my car now. You owe me a story when we get back. Have fun you two. ;)

I sighed in relief and thanked her.

“Who was that?” Jake asked, opening the door of the frozen yogurt store.

“Amber.”

He nodded. “After you, my lady,” he said in a fake British accent.

“Why, thank you, Sir Flynn,” I said, also in a fake British accent.

“My fake Brit. accent is better than yours,” he teased.

I rolled my eyes and slightly shoved his shoulders. “Whatever.”

One more thing I like about Jake, he only gets upset a few times. I’ve only seen him get mad for like, three times. But I have to admit that he’s scary when he gets mad. So, don’t get him upset. Stay on his good side.

We entered the yogurt shop and ordered. I asked for a strawberry flavored yogurt with chocolate chips on top, while Jake asked for a chocolate flavored one and as we finished eating yogurt, he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the yogurt store.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“To the park,” he said, still holding my hand. “But first…” We stopped by his car and he pulled out a beach blanket from the back seat. “There. Now let’s go.”

He ran, still not letting go of my hand. We reached the park and he set the beach blanket down on the grass. He sat down and patted the spot next to him for me to sit down, so I did.

I envy Jake for having a hoodie with him. It’s very cold and my outfit isn’t for a cold weather. I started to shiver, and I think that Jake had noticed it because he took his hoodie off and wrapped it around my shoulders.

“Thanks,” I said, my teeth clattering a bit because of the cold wind.

“Still cold?” he asked.
