Avery's P.O.V.
Amber and I were supposed to shop for our dresses yesterday, but she suggested that we do it today.
After five hours of shopping, Amber and I were finally back in our room with Karen, our stylist. Karen was her mom's stylist when her mom is going to report the weather.
Anyway, we got back around four in the afternoon. We've got plenty of time.
I noticed a gray hoodie lying around my bed. Not just any gray hoodie, it was Jake's hoodie. I completely forgot that it was with me.
"Uh, I'll be right back," I told them. They were watching a movie called John Tucker Must Die. That movie reminded me of that jackass I used to date. I wonder who he'll take as a date, but I'm so over him. What kills me most is that Jake didn't ask me to be his date for the ball.
As I reached Jake and Darren's room, I knocked twice, and Darren was the one who opened it.
"Hi," I greeted him.
"Hi. Not to be rude, but what are you doing here?"
"Just gonna return this to him."
He nodded. "He's inside."
I thanked him and he walked away. He was probably going to buy his tie or something. I entered their room and closed the door behind me. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Jake. His hair was wet and messy, and he was wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. I wanted to kill Darren for not telling me that Jake was showering. What made my heart skip a beat some more is that Jake was just smiling at me like an idiot the whole time. I hope my face didn't turn into a tomato.
My jaw dropped. "Uh... I came here to, uh...return this." I handed the hoodie to him.
He walked up to me and took the hoodie. He was still smiling like an idiot.
"I... uh..." I stuttered. "Darren didn't tell me you were showering."
Before I could reach the door, Jake grabbed my wrist and turned me around. I almost passed out when I turned because my our faces were only a few inches apart. His mesmerizing eyes met mine once again.
"It's alright," he said.
"I, uh, better get ready for the ball. You should too."
He let go of my wrist and I immediately got out of his room. I swear, I just wanna strangle Darren for this.
When I got back in my room, Karen and Amber were staring at me with wide eyes.
I'll tell you later. I mouthed to Amber.
She nodded understandingly and got her attention back to the movie.
It was five o'clock sharp already, so I decided to take a shower.
After my thirty minute shower, the movie they're watching was almost done, so Amber stood up to take a shower, while I watched the rest of the movie with Karen.
The movie finished fifteen minutes after, and when the movie was done, Karen started on me. She blowdried my blond hair and made it even more curlier. And since we're going to be wearing masks, I just told Karen to put eyeliner and mascara on me and a bit cheek tint and pink lipgloss just to finish.
She did the same thing to Amber, only Amber wore red lipstick. But whatever, Amber still looks good. Karen is such a lifesaver.
While Karen was still fixing Amber up, I took my dress and put it on.
After Amber and I were both done dressing up, Karen stood up, ready to leave because her job is done.
"Thanks, Karen. You're a lifesaver," Amber told her.
