Jake's P.O.V.
How am I going to tell her that I'm the one who sent her those flowers and the sealed letter? I usually get nervous when it comes to this. She makes my heart skip a beat when I see her. Why did it had to be her? Sure, we're close, but she might only want to be friends. Just friends.
I can't believe that she went to the library. The truth is, I asked the librarian, Ms. Andrews if Avery can be the only student allowed in the library this day, aside from me.
Avery and I were still in the library. She was still waiting for her secret admirer to come, but she doesn't know that he's already in front of her. How am I going to say this?
Maybe I'll tell her soon. She's cute when she's confused. Wait. What am I talking about? She always looks cute.
Avery frowned. "This is taking too long. Wanna eat or something?"
I closed my Chemistry book, stuffed in inside my backpack, and stood up. "Yeah. Come on."
I quickly went to the librarian's desk to thank Ms. Andrews. The middle-aged librarian smiled and nodded.
When Avery and I got out of the library, we went to the parking lot to get my car. Like I did last night, I opened the door for her and closed it as she stepped inside.
I can't forget about the time that we ditched the back to school beach party last night. It was only just us two and it felt so right. I'm glad that she broke up with Josh.
I've known Avery since last year, when we were sophomores. I just transferred in Middleton High last year and Avery, being the kind person that she is, she showed me around and we became close ever since.
I admit, last summer, when Josh and Avery started dating, jealousy washed over me. The only people who knew about my feelings for Avery were Evan, Amber, and Darren.
"Where do you wanna go?" I asked her.
She smiled like a fool, which is also cute. "I have no idea."
"How about we watch a movie?" I suggested.
She shrugged. "Alright."
As the decision was made, I started my Range Rover and took off.
After thirty minutes of driving, we finally reached the movie house. I immediately got out of my car to open the door on the passenger's side. For Avery, of course.
I, again, opened the movie theater's door for her. "Ladies first."
She stepped inside and turned at me. "Thanks."
One thing I didn't expect, she ruffled my hair. She told me before that my hair looks good when it's messy, and it's true, but teachers in Middleton tell me to fix it, brush it, or something.
"You should really keep your hair like that when we're outside campus. You look hot," she said.
She thinks I'm hot. Don't blush, Jake, I told myself mentally.
I shot her a smirk. "I'm always hot."
She turned away. "So, what movie?" she asked, changing the subject.
I checked the movies currently showing , and I thought about watching a scary movie. "Hmm. What about Paranormal Activity 3?"
She nodded. "Okay. I'll just go use the restroom. Wait for me?"
"Sure."
As she left to use the bathroom, I sat on one of the available seats there, and Josh sat right in front of me and no girl was with him. That's new.
"What do you want, Josh?" I asked annoyingly.
"I want Avery back. Can you help me?" he pleaded.
Wow. A player is asking me for help.
"Why me?"
He ignored my question. "Please, man. Look, I'll pay you," he said, putting his wallet out.
Is this cunt serious?
"I don't need your money, Josh," I grunted. "And besides, Avery doesn't love you anymore. Deal with the reality."
He stood up, pissed off. "Fine." Then walked up to a girl who just arrived.
I can't believe he just asked me for help. Why can't he do it? And why would I? He only wants Avery for reputation. Believe me, he got more popular when they started dating. I'm even more popular than him.
I forgot that I have to buy the tickets, so I stood up and bought Paranormal Activity 3 tickets.
I felt hands cover my eyes. "Boo," a familiar, girl's voice said.
I gently removed her hands and I turned around to see Avery.
"What took you so long?" I asked.
"Evan," she said miserably. "Treating me like a three year old."
"He's here?" I asked, with a bit of surprise in my voice.
"Yeah. He finally got Ava to go out with him."
I shrugged and as we made it to the front of the line, I asked for Paranormal Activity 3 tickets and paid for it.
We went inside theater one, where Paranormal Activity 3 is showing and sat down at the back part of the theater.
I remembered that one of my favorite hoodies is still with Avery.
"Avery?" I whispered.
She looked at me with her beautiful baby blue eyes. "Yeah?"
"My hoodie," I reminded her.
"I'll return it later," she said and turned her attention back to the movie.
After the movie...
When the movie finished, we left the movie house and went back to our dorms. I dropped Avery by her room.
She smiled. "Thanks, Jake. I had so much fun today."
I smiled back. "Me too."
And another thing that I didn't expect that she would do, she kissed my cheek.
I seriously didn't see that coming.
