Avery's P.O.V.

I woke up the next morning, smiling. I can't get over the fact that Jake and I are dating already. Of course, I'll receive glares from girls at school who has an obsession for Jake because I'm officially dating their high school crush.

A lot of unexpected things happened last night, like Amber giving in on Darren, Jake asking me to be his girlfriend in front of the whole school, and I don't know the rest.

All of us were sleepy because the ball ended around midnight, and Principal Martin didn't even cancel classes for us to rest.

I heard a knock on the door. I lazily stood up from the couch, rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, and opened the door. Jake and Darren were outside, each of them holding two cups of coffee.

I opened the door wider and yawned. "Come inside."

Jake handed me the other cup of coffee and kissed my forehead.

"Thanks," I said.

"Are you okay? You don't look good," he asked worriedly.

I yawned again. "I didn't get much sleep last night."

In the corner of my eye, I saw Darren give Amber a quick peck on the lips. I think I'm not hallucinating. Amber told me last night that she finally gave Darren a yes.

"None of us slept well," Amber complained.

I nodded in agreement and I almost fell down because of my lack of sleep. Good thing that Jake caught me.

"Whoa," he said, helping me sit on the couch. He sat with me and I laid my head on his lap.

"Can we just... I don't know... Ditch school?" I suggested. "Just today."

The three of them exchanged glances. Amber and Jake smiled devilishly, while Darren had a lightbulb moment.

"My parents have a beach house in Venice. We can stay there." Darren insisted. "We have lots of rooms there."

"We have to leave now before someone sees us ditching school," Amber said, yawning.

Jake carefully set my head down on the couch and stood up. "I agree with Amber. Darren and I will just drop by our room and pack up a few stuff, then come back here as soon as we're ready to go."

With that, the two of them stood up and left the room. It was a brilliant, yet bad idea, but it's just for the day. None of us had the energy to go to school today.

And because I was so lazy to stand, even to sit up, I stretched my arms out and asked Amber to help me stand up. The coffee didn't really work.

I yawned for the third time. "Thanks."

She nodded, trying to keep her eyes open. "Yeah, sure."

As I finally stood up, I brought out a small duffel bag to pack some stuff. Clothes, sunblock lotion, beach blanket, bath towel, and some toiletries. I changed into a pair of black shorts, a blue tank top, and a pair of blue flip flops. I double checked my stuff and I almost forgot to bring sunglasses with me.

Amber did the same thing. I'm really looking forward to this. My best friend and I are going to ditch classes with our boyfriends. This is going to be awesome, despite the fact that we'll be mostly sleeping when we get there.

Jake and Darren came back after a few minutes, ready to leave.

Luckily, we left a bit early. It was just seven in the morning. Jake and I rode in his Range Rover going to the beach, while Amber and Darren rode in Darren's Mercedes Benz. And Jake, as always, opened and closed the door for me.
