Chapter 19: Birthday Surprise

Peeta's POV:

I wake up with Katniss in my arms. I'm so glad we are ok. I hated that I was acting like how I was. She is currently still sleeping so I let her sleep for many reasons, but there are two important ones. One is she probably didn't sleep that well with out me next to her. I heard her wake up screaming at night and so badly wanted to go help her but I didn't. The second reason is today is her birthday. Today May 8th Katniss turns 19!! I want to make today special for her.

I get out of Katniss grip and put a pillow in my place. She holds onto it like it was me. I am able to make it downstairs without waking her up. I go to the kitchen and start making a breakfast that I know she will like. Chocolate chip pancakes, cheese buns, and strawberries. I finish everything up and bring it up stairs. Of course to find Katniss still sleeping.

I place the tray on her nightstand and and shake her a little to wake her." Katniss, wake up," I say and her eyes flutter open. She looks at me with her beautiful grey eyes and smiles." Good morning princess. Happy birthday!!"

"It's already my birthday?" She ask while sitting up.

I laugh and tell her," Yes it is and I made you breakfast." I place the tray on her lap.

"Thank you. But you know you don't have to do anything. Right?"

"Yes I do. It is your birthday so I have to make it special. I have something planned for tonight so be ready by 7." I tell her and she nods.

Some hours later (7 o'clock)

"Katniss come on," I shout from the bottom of the stairs. I pace back in forth. I'm so nervous for tonight. I'm wearing a green button down shirt with jeans just for her.

"Coming," Katniss says running down the stairs. When she reaches the final one she jumps into my arms and I spin her around. When I place her down I take a look at her. She look outstanding. She is wearing an orange dress with her hair down.

"Well you look absolutely gorgeous," I tell her and she blushes.

"And you look absolutely handsome," she says.

"You ready to go?"

"Yes , but can you please tell me where we are going?"

"Katniss, for the hundredth time do you not know what a secret or surprise is? Also no you will find out when we get there."

We walk out of the front door. We almost reach the gates of Victors Village when we run into Haymitch and Effie. Just like planned. They did have a secret wedding last week. Lets just say Effie wasn't to thrilled if not having a big weeding, but she survived.

"Hey," I say when we approach them.

"Hi," Haymitch and Effie say giving us a hug, and telling Katniss happy birthday.

"Katniss you go with Effie for a little bit. I need to talk to Haymitch. I will meet you at the place I'm taking you to." I say.

"How am I supposed to get there if you won't tell me where we are going?" She ask really confused.

"Effie will bring you," I say and she nods. Haymitch and I wait for them to be fully in the house before we leave.

"She has no clue does she?" Haymitch ask.

"Nope," I say while I let out a nervous laugh. Gosh I'm so nervous.

Katniss POV:

"So are you enjoying your birthday so far?" Effie ask.
