Preference #32 You’re in labor

Harry: He holds your hand and encourages you with each push. He wipes the sweat off your face and brushes your damp hair away from your face. He sees how much pain you’re in and he’s flustered because he doesn’t know how to make you feel better, so he stays by your side, lets you hold his hand as tight as you can and he whispers words of encouragement and love with your every push.

Liam: He is quiet, but he keeps his hand intertwined with yours. Your tight grip makes his hand feel numb, but he doesn’t notice it, because your groans of pain and the doctor’s continuous words of encouragement make him drift off to imagine about the not-so-distant future with an adorable baby boy running around in your home, giggling freely as the two of you run after him. And he kisses your forehead and whispers, “Just a little more, love.”

Louis: You end up having a C-section because your baby was in a breech position, so no one was allowed to be inside the delivery room during the operation. Louis sits outside the delivery room, looking up at the clock anxiously, then standing up to say, “She’s been inside far too long. What if something wrong happened to her and the baby? I don’t know if…” Then your mother stops him and says, “She’ll be fine. This hospital has the best doctors in the country. Trust them.” And he sits down again, bouncing his knees anxiously.

Niall: He is with you inside the delivery room, but he’s quite loud and talkative. He sees the pain you’re going through and he asks the nurses and mid-wife to do something to make you feel better. The nurses tell him they couldn’t do anything more about it, but he repeats himself until the mid-wife threatens to kick him out of the delivery room if he doesn’t shut up. You stifle a laugh as you see him turn red, and you slap his hand because you’re in enough pain as it is and laughing would make you feel worse.

Zayn: He’s been awake for more than forty eight hours now so he’s a bit over-fatiqued. He insists on staying with you at the delivery room, but even the nurses notice how pale he is, so they ask him to stay at the room you’re assigned to, sleep and eat. He protests, but you tell him you’ll be fine and he should rest. They promise him they’ll call him and let him enter the delivery room once the baby is out. So he goes to your hospital room and sleeps until the nurses come for him.
