Preference #35 Gone too soon
Sending my condolences to Cory Monteith’s family, Lea, his friends, and the Gleeks. You are in my prayers.
Harry: As soon as the boys tell you, you shake your head, telling yourself that they’re just joking. It was a cruel joke, but it would’ve been better if it were. But the looks on their faces give it away that it isn’t and you cry. You cry your heart out because the only one who’s been making it beat fast is gone and will never be back.
Liam: Throughout the wake and the funeral, you didn’t cry. You sat quietly beside his mother and sisters as they cry. The people around you hugged you and expressed their condolences, but you stayed quiet, and it all passes for you, because the only thing you could think of is him. And when you come home- the home you’ve shared with him for as long as you can remember- you fall down and you let it all out. Because you’ve finally come to realize that you’re all alone, and this home suddenly doesn’t feel like home to you at all.
Louis: You stand behind the boys and his family, quietly sobbing, as people say goodbye to him for the last time. You stand behind because you know how special his bond is with the boys and his family. You respect them because they have lost a brother and a son. But Niall looks for you, and as soon as he sees you, he pulls you close and hugs you, and you’re sure that a hug is what the both of you need, so you hug him back, and you cry together. And he lets you stand beside him, because even though he’s lost a brother, you have lost your soulmate. And he thinks it is the saddest thing to lose.
Niall: You stay at home, and you end all contact with the outside world. You stay in bed, wearing his shirt, his scent slowly fading. You refuse to move, because if you do, you feel as if his scent will be gone and you’ll never smell him again. And you lie on his side of the bed, and you’re sure it still feels warm. But you still hug yourself because you’ve never been so cold your whole life.
Zayn: The news has left you devastated and the only way for you to go on with your day was to wear something of his so you’d wear his shirts, hoodies, and snapbacks. And as you rummage through his drawer, you find something that breaks your heart all over again. Underneath the neat pile of shirts was a velvet box filled with the promise of forever. You cradle it in your hands and cry because even if you wanted to say yes, he wasn’t there anymore to hear it.
