Harry: …when he’s happy. When he feels jumpy and excited and he just can’t contain his happiness, he runs to you and squeezes you into a hug. He twirls you around when a hug isn’t enough. And the happiness he feels is instantly transferred to you.

Liam: …when you’re feeling down. He can see it by the way your shoulders are slightly slouched and how your smile doesn’t reach your eyes. He’d stop you from what you’re doing and wrap his arms around you, and you’d just break down and cry it out. He won’t say anything. He’d just hug you tightly and run his hand down your back until you’re done crying.

Louis: …when the hate is getting to him. You used to be confused when he’d hug you and nuzzle his face on your shoulder. You’d then hear him sniffle, then you’d realize this hug is what he needs. So you’d wrap your arms around his torso and keep him closer. He would sigh and tighten his hold on you for a while before letting go, still feeling down, but somewhat better than before because he knows you’re there for him.

Niall: …when he wants to. Which is a lot. When he’s in a mood for a hug, he’d sneak up on you and give you his famous hug. You love it because he nuzzles your neck and he keeps you warm. When he sees you, he stops whatever he’s doing and runs to you to hug you.

Zayn: …when he’s nervous. When the band has a huge event or performance, he hugs you to calm his nerves. You play with the small hairs on his nape and it really calms him down. He breathes in your scent and stay that way for a while, because it makes him feel better to know you’ll still be there for him after his performance, no matter how it goes. And the thought calms him down completely.
