Chapter 5 : "Solo Rage"

They found Ozpin's office easily, as the students and teachers all directed them towards the elevator that lead to the top of the great tower that stood high above the rest of the campus.

"Hi Ozpin!" Ruby shouted once the elevator stopped.

"Ruby, I'm glad you could make it..... A day late." Ozpin replied, smiling then giving her a menacing look.

"S-sorry, professor." Ruby said, sheepishly.

"In any matter, I see you have brought Yang Xiao Long and another student with you." Ozpin replied, nodding his head in Rei's direction.

"Oh! Right! Sorry! Professor, this is Rei Crystal, our friend who got into Beacon! He said he wanted to meet you! That annnnnd we kind of missed the bullhead..... Sorta......." Ruby mumbled on, slightly glancing to her left. Ozpin smiled at the girl, enjoying her predicament,

"Rei Crystal. If I remember correctly, you were adopted by Tai Yang Xiao Long after his brother, Qrow Branwan, found you in the forest."  Rei's eyes widened in shock.

"Uncle Qrow and Professor Ozpin are best friends, Rei." Ruby explained when she noted his silence.

"Yes, well let's not try to delve into that fact. For now let's focus on why you're all here." Ozpin said, opening his hands and slouching his back into his chair.

"Rei wants to be on a team by himself." Yang said, although rather viciously. Ozpin looked at her, and in the brief second they made eyes contact, he knew she wasn't happy about his decision.

"Well then. Are you sure, Rei? Being a lone huntsman can be very difficult. With no team to rely on, you'll be alone most of the time." Ozpin informed, making sure Rei knew everything he needed to know.

"I already knew all of that." Rei remarked. His blue eyes suddenly flashed down, probably looking at something happening on the campus below.

"I will allow it. But only on one condition." Ozpin sat back even farther into his chair, then brought his hands together to once again cover his mouth and reveal only his lurking eyes.

"What's the condition?" Rei asked, unsure of whatever Ozpin was going to say.

"You talk to your father whenever you can."

Ruby noted Rei's silence as the three descended on the elevator. Even Yang was quiet, which was unusual for her. Usually, she'd be cracking jokes about Ozpin, about campus, or even about Rei's scar. But today she said nothing, made no joke or pun.

And it terrified Ruby.

Yang was thankful for the elevator beeping, then opening the doors to the main lobby. She walked out of the golden elevator, then took a deep breath in. Despite that, her anger was still rising. Her hair flashed it's brilliant flames, her eyes turning red. She turned around, and immediately Ruby was forced to use her semblance to avoid Rei's recoiling body.

"Woah! Yang! What was that!?" Ruby shouted as Rei slowly stood up from the now cracked wall. He held his jaw painfully, opening his eyes expecting another assault. He expected right as Yang came flying for him, her right arm extended forward in an attempt to land another punch. Rei's arm shot out suddenly, catching Yang's fiery fist and causing it to.....

Ruby gawked. She had known that Rei had some mysterious way of calming Yang down, but he never knew it was this method. Before her, Yang's fist had been entirely encased in ice, the ice crawling over her arm and stretching throughout her body, completely covering her in ice. She was now a block of ice, her fiery expression still plastered across her face.

Rei bent down tiredly, wiping some blood from his lip. His breathing was intense, but freezing Yang had allowed him to see something: Yang, although being the angered ferocity she is, was crying as she leapt towards Rei.

Ruby rushed to Rei's side, helping the injured male up.

"Rei, are you ok?" Ruby asked unsurely, his full weight on her shoulders.

"Y-yeah. Just a little shocked." Rei responded as he deactivated his semblance, the ice melting from Yang. She fell forward, coughing and still extremely mad. Her near-perfect blonde hair was now an ugly yellow, the melted ice bonding itself with her hair. She brought her hands up to her hair, then pulled her drenched hair over her shoulder. She squeezed the water out of her hair by twisting her hands down wet locks. The furious blonde then walked off, probably going somewhere to dry her hair more efficiently.

Yang's little display of fury had attracted much attention from the surrounding students and teachers, many of whom merely watched as Rei froze Yang.

"Rei, are you sure you're okay?" Ruby asked once more, prompting Rei to release her of the burden of carrying him.

"I'm fine, Rubes. Yang's just a little upset that I won't be on your guys' team." Rei smiled lightly, then turned around. He was about to make his way to o his dorm when suddenly Ruby called out to him.

"Ummm, Rei....... Look at your scroll for a minute." Ruby said as her wide, silver eyes stared at the tiny contraption known as a scroll. Rei did as she said, then immediately felt his anger rise.. The scroll's message was Rei's new assigned team, but there was only one tweak to the message he had been expecting:

"New Team Assigned : Rei Crystal To Team WRRY (Team Worry)

Teammate Names : (F) = Female, (M) = Male

Ruby Rose (F)

Yang Xiao Long (F)

Weiss Schnee (F, Team Captain)

Report To Dorm 146 For Team Dorm."

Rei had stopped moving, staring at the last name on his team list.

"Weiss...." Rei breathed, reading his sister's name.
