The sun remained low in the sky as it cast the colours of twilight upon the desert sand. I sat beside my small garden, tending to it, praying silently that something would grow for once. bending low, my face to the ground, I prayed to the goddess of the sands for mercy.
It was just then that a harsh wind blew across my face, throwing sand in many directions. The hot sand stung my flesh as a tear escaped my eye.
In the distance, I could hear the sobs of mothers, 'Another casualty...' I thought to myself as I tried to protect a single wilting plant from getting buried by the oncoming sand.
After a few minutes, which seemed like hours, I felt the ground tremble, I didn't even have to look, for I knew that it was our leader; Ganondorf approaching.
And with a voice of a thousand mighty lions, our leader spoke.
"Death is hovering over us, over our people. We are hungry, but our livestock is slowly dying off with each passing day, we are thirsty, yet our wells do not contain enough water to sustain us for long. How much longer will we live like this? How long will it be until we result to feeding off of one another?"
As he said those words, what was left of our people gathered around.
"You fools! You bend down to pray as if the goddesses would truly help you, don't you see? They have abandoned us, left us for dead. It is time...For our long-awaited revenge."
Gasps were heard throughout the people, they shivered and shook with fear.
"Are you afraid? Are you truly afraid of waging war upon our enemy? The accursed Hylians?"
"But how can we take them? Our people are dying, surely we don't have the people to take up arms against them?" One Gerudo being so bold as to call out to Ganondorf said, he looked upon her, a smirk upon his lips appeared.
"Do you not remember the great Sheikah genocide?" He asked, pausing for a brief moment. "Bongo and his men escaped from their own valley, clear across the land of Hyrule, only to meet their demise. Before their end, he came up to me, begging for safe passage in exchange for a secret, a great secret passed down by the Royal Family for generations."
The people grew quiet, wanting to hear what our leader was about to say, even I stood up to listen to him, I felt a knot in my stomach begin to grow as all eyes were locked upon him.
"The secret of the sacred realm..." He began. "This sacred realm holds the Triforce, it grants any wish to whomever touches it, and so, I shall find this Triforce, and take this great opportunity for the sake of my people! And with this great power, we shall rule all of Hyrule. No more shall we crawl upon the sand, searching for every bit of food we can find. No more poverty, no more death, no more hunger or thirst."
The crowd was in awe by him, they celebrated and called out his name "Hail the Lord! The Great Ganondorf! Glory be to him! Glory be to the Gerudos!" They called out, over and over again.
After a few minutes, Ganondorf held his hand out, as to silence the crowd. "Now, the important question remains... Who will come along with me on this quest? Who among you will serve me, your great King. Who among you will serve your nation? Who among you will serve your children, and children's children? Who will serve me?" Ganondorf said, staring at the crowd with a stern brow.
It was then that I stood up, and with a loud voice, I called out to him. "I will. I will commit my life to your service, my lord."
Ganondorf's eyes met mine, and for what seemed like eternity, not a word was spoken. He stared at me with his piercing yellow eyes. Yet I refused to feel intimidated by his gaze. "So let it be, who else will come with me?"
