Chapter 8

(First person view)

We marched confidentially to the ranch surrounded by the Hylian troops, the ranch sat upon a well elevated cliff, surrounded by walls. We knew that it would be tricky to get in without many casualties.

"Gloros!"
"Vectis!"
"Unt jedpa!"
Glory,
Victory,
And honour,

"Te ach biti tavsde!"
To our great King.

Step after step we took, getting closer to the place of great battle. I could tell that the others were getting nervous, but we kept marching, Ganondorf was near the back of the crowd.

Once we were in firing range, Ganondorf urged his horse forward to be in front, and he called out in a loud voice, fierce and frightening as ever; "Surrender or face defeat." He exclaimed, gripping his reins firmly. "Give up now, and spare the bloodshed of countless people!"

The commander of the Hylian army appeared, facing our own army. "Ganondorf, so we finally meet. Though I must warn you, for you shall be the one who will face defeat, you will be the one with the countless bloodshed." The commander called out in sheer arrogance, "We will wipe your dirty race off of the map, or take your women as our slaves!" He continued, his lips peeling into a terrible smirk.

I was steaming with anger, hearing all of this. "Ah ha! You Hylians, so arrogant, so puffed up with pride. For your pride will be the downfall of your nation. Your people will yearn and cry out for death, yet death will flee." I called out to the commander; surely my face was red with rage.

"We will never fall, we will never bow down, and we will never serve the likes of you!" With this, the commander glowered at me, his eyes peering deep into mine. "Very well." He said, his voice sounding so snide.
He then turned around, and cocked his head back, sending the signal to attack.

Arrows went flying in our direction, but they bounced off of our armour as we began our march again. "Zatre!" We called out in our native tongue, "Drenah!" Over and over again, our voices as loud as a wave that comes crashing down upon the earth.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"
These words meant "Death marches".

We approached the entrance to the ranch, chanting our death chant over and over. Their arrows being no match for our great armour.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"

The Gerudos on horseback were walking behind the Gerudos who had no mount. And behind the mounted Gerudos were the infantry Gerudos who had great speed, but lesser armour.

And behind the infantry marched the archers. We were a great army, though our numbers were little in comparison to the Hylian troops, we still had greater skill and wit.

The Hylian soldiers realised that their arrows were doing no good against us.

I then heard the commander barking orders, as to what they were, I wasn't sure. But what I was sure of, was that I had to prepare for a better challenge. Who knows what he was going to send next?

A few minutes later, a wave of Zora warriors appeared, their numbers were great, but their armour was few. They came running towards us at a great speed.

"Elites! Fall forward!" Ganondorf hollered atop his horse, "Horsemen, fall back!" And with this, the great elite formed a wall, guarding the Gerudos atop horses from the Zora's long spears. The archers also went forward, attacking the oncoming Zora army from a distance with a flurry of arrows from the sky.

More of our enforcements then arrived, they were Gerudos mounted up on their steeds, and they bore bows and arrows. They sprawled out, forming yet another wall, in the meanwhile sending a flurry of arrows at the Hylians atop the ranch while we marched closer and closer to the entrance, for it was just in our grasp!

Along with the enforcements came wagons, carrying more gerudo infantry. They lit their torches, as both sides of their stick was lit with blue fire.

They then ran ahead of the ranks, arriving at the ranch and setting fire to it. Though, since they were at the front lines, they fell as the Hylian archers sent arrows flying in their direction.

I sat there on my horse beside Ganondorf; my Lord.
"Master, I cannot keep watching. I must do something! I must fight!" I begged to him, I grasped my reins, fighting the urge to go and fight for my people.
"Be patient." He responded, his eyes still fixed upon the battle scene. "Your time will come."

I couldn't bear to wait! I watched my people being struck by arrows, it felt as if it were taking a lifetime just for us to reach the ranch. "Enter already!" I screamed, hardly containing myself. My body was telling me to go and fight, however my mind refused. I must obey my Lord and Master...

Till at last! They had entered the ranch, striking every Hylian they saw down while the place was still ablaze! I began to worry about them, will some be burned to ashes by the fiery flames? Will we still have enough of our army to go and ransack the castle town? The only thing I could really do was sit and watch the action, watch as my people got struck down, though at the same time, watch the Hylians, my sworn enemies be cut down by our sharp blades.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"
They called out as the place was ablaze, flames everywhere. Screams could be heard from the grounds, someone was surely aflame! I only hoped that it wasn't one of our people.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"

My people called out again, their voices sounding louder and louder. It was as if the clamour of the shields bashing together had slowed down, as did the clanging of weapons.

Before we knew it, LonLon ranch was set completely ablaze, you could see nothing but the fiery flames. Yes, the fiery, blue flames of our wrath and hatred for the Hylians. A burning flame that could never be snuffed out. I watched in delight as I witnessed LonLon ranch collapse.

Our brave fighters had returned to us, some were severely burned, others were wounded, and some were bruised. Though hope and determination burned within their very iris', surely all the way to their souls. We had to win this war. For we couldn't stand to be beneath the Hylian's boot any longer.

Our soldiers walked towards the CastleTown, the only sounds that could be heard was the loud clanking of our armour and boots hitting the ground.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"

I glanced over to my master, making my eyes peer deep into his. He looked at me, and nodded his head. Yes!
I whooped for joy as I urged my horse into a fast trot, canter, and then to a gallop. A fast gallop.
I caught up to my people, yelling and chanting as loud as I possibly could.

"Zatre!"
"Drenah!"

"Gloros!"
"Vectis!"
"Unt jedpa!"
"Te ach biti tavsde!"

"Long live the King! The King of the Gerudo race!" We called out, again and again. "Forever may our Lord and Master rule us!"
"Long live the King!"

Our forces marched to a proud cadence, we lifted our swords and spears, rejoicing to the sand goddess. Rejoicing to our King and Lord.

Glory, victory, and honour go to the King. The King of the Gerudos.
