Recap

***
In the morning I was woken up by merciless chills and night sweats.

***

My breathing was heavy. I was freezing yet I still sweated profusely. No matter how tightly I wrapped myself in my blanket, heat wouldn't come to comfort me. My body instinctively curled itself into a ball trying its best to retain warmth. I just wouldn't stop shivering.

I was reluctant to get up from under my covers to get my mom for help me. So I just called her name with the best of my ability. I didn't know what the heck was wrong with me.

"Mom!" I yelped. I sounded like a zombie from The Walking Dead when I called her.

"Muhhhhhhhh..." I called again but while coughing this time, and when I coughed it wasn't pretty. I'd have to fight to bring oxygen back into my lungs.

After a few more failed attempts to call my mom I finally realized that she wasn't hearing me. This is the problem my mom and I faced living on different levels. So, I forced my fragile body to sit up on the bed. Once I did, I buried my face in my hands because my head was pounding. What's wrong with me, I groan.

Then I remembered that I was out in the brutal rain last night. The rain mixed with the ice cold air must've made me sick. Stupid, stupid, stupid, I whispered to myself while standing unsteadily on my feet when I slid off the sweaty bed.

I felt heavy as I walked over to my nightstand to get some Advil. While I was pouring two pills in my hand I thought about how I've used to contemplate whether to take a whole entire bottle of pain medication or not. I didn't care weather it was Tylenol, Advil, or simple cough syrup, as long as it would just take me out of this wretched world painlessly. Then a light knock on my door awoken me from my thoughts.

"Come in," I say with my voice sounding hoarse.

"Good morning, baby," My mom said cheerfully while opening the door. Oh, now you come... I say under me breath, triggering a cough. "You don't sound too good, are you okay?" She asked, frowning while walking towards me. Placing her soft hand on my cheek and then my forehead.

"Mom, its..."

"Ohhh, you're burning up!" She said worried, cutting me off. "I don't think you should go to school today."

"N..no it's nothing. Im fine." I insisted faintly, while leaning against my nightstand because of my uneasiness.

"Mhhhm, the rain got you, huh?" She said while pursing her lips and putting her hands on her hips. When she does that she means business. "Look, you can't even stand."

"Y...yes I can. I just need to take these Advils... then i'll be better. Really." I said this because I didn't want to miss one day without seeing Adam. I didn't care if I was half dead...well I guess I am already half dead, but I just have to see him again. I'm not about to let this fever stop me from from doing so. That's for sure.

"No!" My mom said sternly, "you're not going to go anywhere but to stay in your lovely house."

"But mom! I protested, "I said i'm fine. It's a bright and sunny today, thanks to Mother Nature and..."

"Not another word outta you young lady!" My mom interrupted. "Your staying home whether you like it or not. End of story, okay?" She asked in a irritated questioning tone. I knew if I continued to talk back, that would be me literally setting off an atomic bomb. So I just shut my big mouth.
