Scott and I walk into the very busy looking hospital. I hold up her take out and Melissa smiles. We walk over and she takes the food from my hands. Scott and I exchange glances as she takes off her gloves.

"I'm starving." She slowly turns to us with a sheepish smile on our face. "Oh, I'm sorry."

Scott smiles and opens his arms ready for his hug. I knock him out of the way and she engulfs me into the hug. We laugh.

"Don't let Scott fool you. I paid for your dinner," I explain.

"I left my wallet at home."

"Whatever."

Melissa explains to us about the busy night that she's having. A bloodied woman limps her way over to us begging for painkillers.

"Giving you something could complicate things, so we really just need to wait for the doctors."

The woman sits down, wincing. I start to make my way over, Scott stops me.

"Aura-"

"I know what I'm doing Scott," I assure him. "I've been practicing."

I sit beside the woman and smile kindly at her. "Uh, you know, I think I read online that sometimes human contact can help with pain."

She clutches her abdomen with the closed eyes and clenched teeth. She nods with a whimper. I needed enough just to take the pain away but not enough to heal it. I breathe out slowly and place my hand on top of her own. The veins in my arm darken. The women releases the breath she'd been holding. She slowly turns her head and I give her a smile. She smiles back then I hear a scream.

"Someone! Someone help me!"

I jump out of my seat and rush over to the two boys. Danny and Ethan. Scott helps Ethan and they carry Danny to a chair. Melissa follows and they sent him down gently. I sit beside him and grab his hand. He struggles for a breath and I feel myself panic with every heave.

"This is not good," Melissa says. "How much longer on doctor Hilyard? His larynx has shifted to the side. I think it's a tension pneunothorax."

Danny starts to stands and begins to vomit. I stare at the floor. It's mistletoe.

I shake my head. "I-I um... oh God. We have to put in a chest tube or something to help him breathe!" Melissa gives me a look.

Seems to be that my father has a thing for nurses. We get Danny onto a gurney and wheel him to a room where other injured people are being held.

"Can you please go to the waiting room?" Melissa asks. "His lung is collapsed. His heart is being pushed against his chest cavity."

I bite my lip. "Let's please--"

"Scott, you grab the tape. You grab those scissors and cut his shirt open. Aura, hold his hand."

We all do as we're told. Melissa grabs a tube looking syringe. She places her fingers onto the skin along his upper chest. She jabs the tube into the skin and Danny grips my hand. She ejects the fluid into it and Danny takes a long breath. Then another. His eyes open and he looks at Melissa.
