Allison and I sit in her dad's car with her aunt. He refuses to let us out of his car.
"Dad, if you're going to insist on driving us to school, you're going to have to let us out of the car," Allison says.
"I don't feel comfortable letting you girls go to school after what happened."
"We'll be fine, Mr. Argent. We're tough, strong girls," I say.
"Kate, what's your opinion on homeschooling, the both of them?" He asks.
"I'm more of a learn by doing kind of girl," Kate says.
"You're opinion on overprotective dads who keep ruining their daughters' lives?"
Kate reaches over Chris and unlocks the door. I laugh.
"Thank you," Allison and I say simultaneously.
"You're welcome, girls."
We both step out of the car and slowly walk towards the school. I smile and Allison nudges me.
"What's that grin on your face for?" She asks.
"My dad was never really in my life and your dad treating me like I'm his daughter. I appreciate it."
"Okay. I may have lied. My dad thought it would be good to get you the supplies. He saw one of your drawings. He got you this too." She pulls a thick, big book out of her bag. "It's a sketch book. And you have to take it. You have talent."
A sniffle escapes her.
I stop and hug her. "Sometimes you just need a hug."
"Thank you."
We pull away and walk into school. Lydia joins us with a slight smirk on her face.
"It's just weird. Everybody's talking about what happened the other night," Allison says.
"And nobody knows it us," I add.
"Thank you, for the protection of minors," Lydia hums.
"Do you guys think I made the wrong decision?"
"About that jacket with that dress? Absolutely."
"You know what I mean Lydia."
"Hello? Scott locked us in a classroom and left us for dead."
I cross my arms over my chest. "He's my brother and I know him better than anybody else. He would never leave us for dead. He doesn't abandon family or friends."
"I'm not so sure. He may follow in your father's footsteps." I take a step back and Allison's eyes widen. "He's lucky we're not pressing charges or making him pay our therapy bills."
She walks away. Allison grabs my hand. I clench my fist as I glare at the back of Lydia's head. My heart pounds in my chest.
Let's see how pretty she looks with her head bashed...
I stop myself from getting too far ahead in the violence.
Tonight's the full moon. It's started taking effect on me. I just need to relax.
"I cannot believe she just said that to me," I say truly appalled. "You think if I give a beat down people are going to hate me."
"I won't."
I laugh. "Come on. We have a chemistry test."
I take her hand and we walk to the chemistry room. I drop my sketchbook.
