Selena's POV
The next morning, I woke up with a smile. I lingered in bed until I decided to get up. Knowing that Eva was still sleeping, I thought of bringing her breakfast in bed. It turned out I wasn't the only one with that idea. Emma stood in the kitchen with a tablet in front of her.
"You want some help?" I offered.
"You had the same idea, didn't you?" she asked.
"Yes," we both laughed.
"Then come here. You can slather Nutella on the croissant. She loves that." We prepared a lot of food and adorned it with flowers. It looked really good. We went upstairs, started singing "Happy Birthday," and walked towards her bed. Eva opened her eyes, smiled broadly, and expressed her gratitude.
"Aww, thank you so much, cuties!" she said while Emma wished her happy birthday, hugging her.
"Happy birthday," I added quietly in the background.
"Let me just change, and we can go in half an hour, okay?"
"Sure." Em and I went to our rooms, got ready, and then went downstairs. After a few minutes, Eva joined us, grabbed her purse, and at that very moment, the doorbell rang. Eva opened the door, hugging the person on the other side, and I recognized the voice. It was my mom.
"Selena? Guess who's here?" Eva exclaimed. My mom entered, and I ran up to her. We hugged each other for what felt like 20 minutes. We talked a bit; I had missed her a lot!
"I thought you would only come tomorrow," I told her.
"But I didn't want to miss Eva's birthday, so we changed the tickets for today," she said, smiling. But I could sense that something wasn't right. And I knew why.
"Mom? Does that mean we're leaving tonight?" I asked her.
"Yes, but this shouldn't be a problem. I mean, you've spent the whole holidays here, and I also want to spend some time with you too."
I didn't know how to react. Of course, I wanted to spend time with my mom, but there was Justin. I wanted a day for just us, only him and me. But that would mean I wouldn't see him until the next holidays. Oh gosh. No, please no... Tell me this isn't true. I liked him, or even loved him. Ten weeks were too much to stay away from each other.
I ran into my room, wiping my tears away. Of course, it wasn't my mom's fault; she didn't know about Justin. I'm sure Eva or Em will tell her right now. After about 10 minutes, I decided to go back downstairs. When I entered the living room, my mom gave me a hug.
"Aww, baby, I didn't know that. I'm sorry," she said.
"No, mom, it's okay. You didn't know." I tried to cheer her up because I knew she felt guilty for coming. Then, we headed to Dallas. We talked a lot on the way, but luckily, nothing about Justin. I love that my mom always knows when I want to talk about something and when I don't.
We went to a restaurant, then shopped downtown. Around 4 pm, we returned to the car and drove to grandma's. She was thrilled about our visit, and she was amazing. She shared many inspiring stories, although sometimes it got boring as she repeated the same ones again and again. "Selena," my mom called, getting my attention, "guess what. Your cousin Anthony will live here for one year with us."
"What?" I was shocked. I hadn't seen Anthony for like 10 years, and I was furious that I got to know this in front of him. He's one year older than me, and I can't remember when he was always mean to me when we were younger. Then, a good-looking, muscular young man entered.
