Justin's POV

I was eagerly waiting for a call the next morning, but nothing happened. Minutes passed, and I grew more anxious. The entire night was spent awake, unable to stop thinking about her. Finally, at 10 am, my phone vibrated.

"Hey," I picked up.

"Morning," she said.

"Morning, beautiful."

Then there was a brief silence.

"I miss you," she whispered with a sad voice.

"I miss you too, but hey. Everything is gonna be alright," I tried to cheer her up.

"But 10 weeks? That's too much, Justin."

"I know, but we will go through this, right?"

"Yeah," she said.

This wasn't a normal conversation between us. We usually talked a lot, but the distance cast a shadow.

"Please talk to me. I know we're thousands of miles away from each other, but I love you, and I don't want to lose you," I told her.

"Jus, I-I..."

"Yeah?" I asked.

"I don't want to lose you either, but..."

"But?"

"But there's the distance, the time, and just everything. It makes me so sad, and I don't think I could live with this pain over ten weeks," she explained.

"No, Selena, please don't. I love you. Please give us a chance."

"Justin, I-I-I love you too." I could tell she was getting nervous.

"So we'll try it?"

"Yes, we will."

"Thank you. I promise to be the best I can be for you. But now I gotta go, beautiful. Can I call you later?" I asked her.

"Sure, bye."

"I love you, babe." Oh, did I really say 'babe'? She didn't answer anything. Was it wrong?

"I love you," she said and hung up.

I don't know if she liked it, but I guess I'll find that out later. Now I have to prepare everything for tomorrow, for the first school day. I promised my mom to try to enter the basketball team. She knew I could play and didn't want me to hide it. I regret making that promise because I have to pass the auditions. And I didn't even like the team. They rule the school, and they know that.

Selena's POV

I wanted to tell Justin it wouldn't work, but I love him and he loves me. He cub-aged my opinion, so I gave him a chance. At the end of our call, he called me 'babe.' First, I didn't know how to react, but it was so cute from him. I also wanted to call him 'babe,' but I ended up just telling him I loved him. Gosh. I wish I would be with him now, so I could be close to him; he could hold me... Now I have to get ready for school tomorrow. I was a cheerleader captain, and I hated it. Brandon was the captain of the basketball team, and I really didn't want to see him. I wish I didn't have to see him ever again. Then there's also Anthony. I think all girls will love him. He came into my room when I was lost in my thoughts.

"Do you know when the auditions for the basketball team are?" He asked.

"Do you play basketball?"

"Yeah, last year, I won the championship with my team," he explained.
