Ch.27

Two months had passed chance Sawyer had kept his words and not chased after Sage, and every day that passed brought more of a relief for her. Although she was relieved at not having to worry about being some type of lunch for Sawyer and his wolf pack, she couldn't help but to notice just how much her brain had formed unwanted images of him and his beautiful face. Part of her missed him. She missed the way his arms felt around her body, and the way that he had always been accepting of her flaws. She missed the way he used to brighten up her day just by saying the simplest of things. She missed and part of her couldn't deny it.

It had been hard. Two months started to feel like a lifetime without seeing him. He had kept to his words when he stated that she'd never have to see him again, and he made sure about that by switching out of the only class that they seemed to share, which happened to be gym. Not only had he switched out, but so had Holland and the others, well besides Dakota, but she was an entire different story, one that Sage refused to let herself get into. Her time at school seemed long and hard, and nothing like it used to feel.

Whenever she looked around the school now a days, she always found herself questioning which of her fellow classmates where human and which were wolves. The entire ordeal was exhausting, and she just about drove herself crazy, because whenever she thought about the wolves, her mind automatically drifted to Sawyer and she begun to wonder if he had been thinking about her, the way that she had been thinking about him.

Letting out a small sigh, Sage placed her books inside her locker and closed the door, beginning to make her way down the hall. She had been running late to lunch because she had been in the library finishing a paper that was due next period for her English class, that she allowed herself to lose track of time, and before she knew it, she had been fifteen minutes late. The halls had been silent as she made her way down a flight of stairs.

She was about to turn the corner when she heard voices that she recognized catching her attention. Hiding behind the wall, she peeked out enough to find that the voices she belonged to were Dakota's and Camryn's.

Normally she didn't allow herself to think about Dakota, since finding out about the whole wolf things. But lately not even she could ignore the changes that she'd to show in her former best friend. Although Dakota hadn't been one for the social life, she had become quite reserved in her actions an in the way that she cared herself. She hardly paid attention to her work, and whenever they took tests she was always the last one to turn her work in, and while during the test Sage had noticed how she usually sat silently in her seat looking ahead, not bothering to do anything.

There were so many times where Sage wanted to go up to her, just to make sure that she was okay, but then her mind would drift back to the night when Holland and the other wolves had a dog fight right before her very eyes, then she'd remember the way Sawyer eyes would go all animalistic and she'd stop herself from going anywhere near Kota.

As Sage peeked from behind the wall, she took in the way that Dakota had looked. For the first time since Sage had known Dakota, she wasn't wearing baggy clothing to school, instead she was wearing a pair of blue jeans fitted dark blue jeans with a red silk blouse that fall just towards her hips, with a with a red leather jacket that she had left unzipped. Her hair for once was not in some messy bun, but hanging in long soft curls down her back.

From the way that they were standing Sage could see them clearly, and she saw a look of determination written on Dakota's face.

Not knowing what the look was for, Sage turned her attention toward Camryn, who as usually looked like some sort of god, standing tall in all his glory as he stared down at Dakota, with an unreadable look on his face.
