~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You let out a long sigh as you entered your empty house and trudged up the stairs. It had been a long day, and you wanted nothing more than to go to sleep.
When you arrived at your room and tossed your bag onto the floor, you picked out your favorite pair of pajamas and got changed. As you put on a different shirt, you found yourself looking at your figure, especially at the small pocket of chub on your stomach. You really hated that chub since it always stuck out when you wore your school uniform. It was so annoying and embarrassing, and you were extremely self-conscious about it since everyone else at Nekoma was stick thin and didn't even know what the word "fat" was.
Feeling uncomfortable at your insecurity, you quickly pulled your shirt over your head, feeling satisfied when the pocket of chub was concealed under the baggy shirt. You then wandered into the bathroom and cleaned off your face.
You couldn't help but gaze at your short (h/c) hair and think about how all of the girls at your school were so opposed to short hair. "Boys don't even like short hair, so I don't understand why you still cut it all the time," a girl had said to you today.
Thinking about the harsh and judgmental things that other girls had said to you genuinely hurt you and made you feel down in the dumps. You had just started to feel a bit better about yourself after your boyfriend had come over a few nights ago to study with you, and he'd told you how cute you were, but now you were unhappy again.
As you watched yourself in the mirror, thinking about your insecurities, you felt your (e/c) eyes sting with tears. Furiously wiping them away and sniffling, you walked back into your room and grabbed a hoodie before slipping it on so you wouldn't have to think about how ugly your short hair was or how pudgy your stomach was.
People always judged based on appearance or on natural things that people couldn't fix, and that was one of the main things that you hated both about the students at school and about yourself. You couldn't fix your insecurities, and, therefore, people wouldn't let you forget about them.
A few hours later, after Kuroo had finished practice and had taken a shower, he arrived at your house, and you shuffled downstairs to let him in. "Hey, (f/n)!" he greeted you warmly and engulfed you in a hug.
"Hi, Tetsu," you responded softly and hugged him back, taking in his warmth as well as the feeling of his slightly damp hair on your cheek.
When he pulled away from you, he noticed that your eyes seemed slightly red and puffy, and your entire face was paler than usual. Concern knotted inside of his stomach, and he wrapped his arm around your shoulders before walking upstairs with you. The two of you sat down on your bed, and you rested your back against your pillows as he sat down cross-legged beside you.
"What's wrong, babe? Something's upsetting you," he asked softly as he watched you expectantly with his cat-like eyes.
You refused to meet his eyes with your own as you pulled your laptop closer to you and started searching for a movie to watch. "It's just school. Don't worry about it," you said dismissively.
He frowned and nuzzled your face with his, which resembled the action of a cat when it wanted its owner's attention. "Are people bothering you again?" There was a long silence as you nodded. "(F/n), please don't listen to them. Try not to let them get to you."
Your eyes stung with tears again, and you pushed him away before snapping, "That's easy for you to say! You never get bullied about anything because there's nothing wrong with you!"
"There's nothing wrong with you either!" Kuroo responded truthfully, his eyes slightly wide. His face fell as you held your hood closely to your face and hid your face in it, crying softly. Moving closer to you, he placed his head in your lap and wrapped his arms around your lower back. He then pressed his face into your stomach, snuggling up to you and waiting for you to stop crying.
"What are you doing, Tetsurou?" he heard your tired and weary voice ask him.
"Appreciating you," was his simple reply, his voice muffled by the fabric of your sweater, "There's nothing wrong with your stomach. Having meat on your bones is healthy. I don't like all those stick figures at our school."
His words made your heart flutter slightly in your chest, and your cheeks heated up slightly. "But I don't like the flab on my stomach..."
He sighed, "If you want to get rid of it, that's fine, but I love you the way you are." You smiled slightly as he pulled away from you slightly so that he could sit up next to you and look at you. He wiped the tears off your cheeks and pushed your hood away from your head before running his fingers through your short hair.
"It must be so boring to do that," you commented.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, most guys like girls with long hair so that they have a lot of hair to run their hands through. But my hair is short, so it's not like there's much there for you to play with," you elaborated, avoiding his gaze.
"Who said that I preferred any length of hair over another? I love your short hair because it allows me to do this." He leaned closer to you and playfully nipped the nape of your neck before peppering it with kisses. "I can do this whenever I want and I don't have to bother with moving tons of hair out of the way."
You blushed, covering your face with your hands until he pulled them away so that he could plant kisses on your lips. "Tetsurou... Just tell me the truth..." you murmured.
"Okay. I love you," was his simple response, "I love every part of you. And even though you hate your chubby tummy and your short hair I love them because they're a part of you."
You couldn't hide the smile that spread across your lips, and Kuroo's face brightened as he wrapped his arms around you tightly and pulled your body over towards his, threatening to suffocate you with his grip.
"There's that smile that I've been waiting so long to see!" he exclaimed playfully as you squirmed.
"S-Shut up, Tetsurou!" you growled jokingly with a small giggle as you managed to push him off of you enough for you to regain the ability to breathe. As you sat up and grabbed your laptop, Kuroo kept his eyes trained on you and thought about how beautiful you were to him. "W-What?" you mumbled and blushed upon noticing his gaze.
"You're beautiful."
Kuroo chuckled and pinched your cheek as you blushed, making you smack his hand lightly. You leaned down towards him as he pulled you closer to him and planted an appreciative kiss on his lips. "Thank you. I love you."
He replied with an, "I love you too," before the two of you settled down to watch the movie on your laptop.
"Try not to fall asleep on me," you joked.
"I'm already in your bed so it's not like you'll have to carry me if I do," he responded.
"I wouldn't carry you anyway."
"I know you wouldn't. You never have carried your dear boyfriend to bed. All you ever do is wake me up by shoving me off the couch."
You giggled slightly as you snuggled up next to him and rested your head on his shoulder.
Surprisingly enough, Kuroo did manage to stay awake during the entire movie, but that was only because he would turn his attention away from the laptop screen to gaze at his girlfriend from time to time and admire her.
