"Alright, I'm heading out now!" you called as you walked into the living room to grab your purse. You straightened out your dress and fixed your hair one last time, looking into the nearby mirror on the wall. You had been invited to go to dinner with a few of your coworkers, so you decided to join them at a nice restaurant not that far away.

Your daughter, (daughter's name), ran down the hallway and clung onto your leg. "Mommy, how long are you gonna be gone?!" she asked, looking up at you with her wide eyes.

"Only a few hours at the most, sweetie," you responded and bent down to give your daughter a hug, "I'll be back before you know it."

You heard more footsteps, and another small body slammed into yours and clung onto you as well. "I'm gonna miss you, mommy!" your son cried as he hugged you along with his twin sister.

"I'm not going to be gone that long. Besides, daddy's here to take care of you," you told them and planted gentle kisses on their foreheads.

"Yeah! How about some ice cream?" You looked up and saw your husband, Kuroo, saunter into the room, a mischievous grin on his face. Your twins let go of you and you stood up as Kuroo walked closer to you, pausing to ruffle your children's hair.

"Tetsurou, feed them a proper dinner at least," you grumbled as you slung your purse over your shoulder.

"Come on, (f/n), I'm, like, the most trustworthy guy you're ever going to meet. I can take care of our own kids. The house hasn't burned down while you've been away," Kuroo commented, running his hand through his permanent bedhead.

"Yet." You pressed a gentle kiss against his lips, making your children shield their eyes. When you pulled away, you said your goodbyes before slipping on a pair of heels and leaving your house.

"Alright, how does pizza sound?" Kuroo asked as he looked down at the twins.

(Daughter's name) and (son's name) both nodded happily, hopping about with excitement as Kuroo asked them what they wanted and ordered the appropriate pizza.

After you and your coworkers exchanged goodbyes, you drove back home and quietly walked into the house. It was about 10 pm, and you hoped that Kuroo had put the kids to bed even though it was a Friday night and they tended to be a bit more energetic than usual. You were pleased when you didn't hear either of the twins running around and yelling, high on a sugar rush, or something. You never knew what to expect sometimes.

You made your way to the living room upon hearing the sound of a television show and saw that the room was completely dark save for the light emanating from the screen. On the couch, you noticed your husband leaning back against the cushions, sleeping soundly. In his arms were both of your twins, holding onto him as they slept peacefully.

You smiled and chuckled quietly at the sight. You could see the empty pizza box on the coffee table, as well as some empty bowls of ice cream. You yawned slightly as you walked over to the couch and picked up your son, carefully lifting him up into your arms so that you didn't disturb him.

Before you turned away, you noticed Kuroo's eyes flutter open. Sure, he was lazy and he was a heavy sleeper, but he had strangely accurate protection instincts, and he always seemed to wake up when something moved off of him or out of his arms. You didn't know how he did that, but he just did. He rubbed his eyes and smiled at you before picking (daughter's name) up and carrying her in his arms as you delivered your children to their rooms.

Once the two of them were securely tucked into their beds, you went back to your room with Kuroo, changed into your pajamas, and flopped into bed with him. "Thank you for keeping the house and kids intact," you commented as you snuggled up to him and wrapped your arms around him.

"Have a little more faith in your dear, old husband, (f/n). I've been at this whole dad thing for five years now," he joked and smiled. He pulled you closer to him and pressed a gentle kiss against your lips. "I hope they realize how lucky they are to have a mom like you."

Bonus ending!

"What are you two doing?!" you nearly screamed when you saw your two kids in the kitchen, crawling on the counters in an attempt to reach the cupboard that served as a hiding place for Kuroo's secret sweets stash. You rushed over to them before grabbing them and putting them back down on the floor, even though the squirmed and kicked.

"We saw daddy put a bag of cookies up there!" your son cried.

"And we wanted some!" your daughter joined in.

You sighed and ran a hand over your (h/l) (h/c) hair to smooth it down. "Did you ask daddy if you could have any cookies?" you wondered, raising an eyebrow as you looked at your two pouting children. It was amazing how much they were like Kuroo when it came to their mischievous ways of trying to get things. You would find them climbing in the strangest places, trying to reach the hiding spots where you put their toys when they misbehaved.

You heard a long sigh and looked behind you to see your husband enter the kitchen in his pajamas, running a hand through his hair. He kneeled down in between the twins and looked at them with his brown eyes. "You know, if you would've just asked, I would've given you each a cookie. But you have to ask," he explained, patting their heads.

"Can we please have one of your cookies?" the twins asked in unison as they looked at their father hopefully. He was about to consent, but you shot him a warning look. The kids weren't allowed to have treats before breakfast.

"If you finish all of the delicious food that mommy makes for breakfast, then you can have a cookie each, okay?" Kuroo bargained, remembering the rule.

"Yay! Thank you, daddy!" They both gave him a hug, clinging onto him as he stood up. He ruffled their hair and set them down on the ground, letting them run to their rooms to play while you made breakfast.

"Now I need to hide my sweets somewhere else. They sure do catch on fast," Kuroo commented sheepishly and smiled.

You chuckled as you got out some cooking utensils, preparing to make breakfast. "They remind me so much of you, you know. With those looks they get on their faces when they get caught being naughty," you told him.

Kuroo sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "At least they have your intelligence."
