Nightmares (Request)

Kuroo comforts you when you have nightmares

As Kuroo sat on the couch in front of the television in the living room of your apartment, he could've sworn he heard something that wasn't part of the show he was watching. He turned the television off and listened carefully, his eyebrows knitted in confusion. Eventually, he heard the sound again and realized you were calling his name faintly.

He quickly got up off the couch, sensing that there was something wrong. It was midnight, after all, and you'd gone to bed long before he had since you'd been utterly exhausted from work. When he opened the door to the bedroom, he saw you curled up in a ball under the covers with a look of distress on your face as tears streamed down your cheeks.

When your (e/c) eyes focused themselves on him, they widened. "Tetsurou!" you cried and sat up abruptly, reaching out towards him with your arms when he neared your side of the bed.

Kuroo wrapped his arms around you as a knot of worry formed in his stomach upon feeling you squeeze him tightly and hearing you sob quietly into his shoulder. "What's wrong, (f/n)?" he asked softly as he rubbed your back and ran his hand through your slightly messy (h/l), (h/c) hair.

"I thought you were gone..." you whispered in between your gasps for air and muffled sobs.

When he heard you say this, he realized that you'd had another nightmare. He was beginning to worry, since you'd been having horrible dreams lately and they'd often made you wake up in a panic or with tears in your eyes. "What happened, baby?" he questioned.

He pulled back the covers of the bed and crawled underneath them so he could lie down next to you and comfort you. After waiting for a few moments, you took your face out of his shoulder and sniffled before looking up at him with your red and puffy eyes. "I dreamt that you... that you left me and went off with someone else. And I-I tried to get you to stay, but you didn't want me anymore. You just... took all your things and left," you explained with a shaky voice.

Kuroo took his hand off the back of your head and used his thumb to wipe tears away from your eyes before kissing one of your tear-stained cheeks. "(F/n), I would never do that. Do you know how much I love you?" he said gently.

You nodded slowly. "Yes... You tell me all the time."

Kuroo couldn't help but smile a bit at hearing that, and he kissed your forehead gently before pressing his against yours and looking into your eyes. "I would never leave you. I don't want anyone else. There's nobody out there who I want more than I want you. I know I tease you a lot, but that's just one of the ways I show how much I care about you," he assured you softly.

Upon hearing his words, you let out a small sigh and closed your eyes for a moment. "I know how much you care about me... but I keep having these horrible nightmares and they make me doubt everything. I hate it."

"I know, I know; but I just want to assure you that I'm not going anywhere." He took his forehead away from yours so that he could plant a chaste kiss on your lips and pull your body closer to his. "Now, I want you to get some rest, okay?"

"Okay...."

"If you need anything, I'm right here. I'll be right here the whole time, I promise," he told you as he pulled the covers back up over your shoulders and made sure you were comfortable.

You placed a gentle kiss on his neck as you nestled your head there and closed your eyes. "Thank you, Tetsurou. I love you," you murmured.

"I love you too, (f/n). Wake me up if you need anything."

He rubbed your back soothingly and held you closely to him to comfort you until you fell asleep again. Only after you'd been asleep for awhile did he close his eyes and drift off beside you as well.

With your loving boyfriend at your side, you had the most peaceful sleep you'd had in a long time.
