Right Place, Right Time

Chapter Five

Shannon felt extremely nervous about Channing meeting her daughter. She was afraid of scaring him off, she didn't want it to. She had fallen for him, no doubt about it. The thought of losing him scared her greatly. Eventually 5 o clock arrived and Channing knocked on her door. "Hiya, please come in." She welcomed before leading him inside. "I'm so nervous about this. Wait here, I'll just go get what I was going to show you, I just hope you won't be angry, but... we'll see I guess." She added before running upstairs leaving Channing to feel very confused. Minutes later she re entered the living room with her daughter holding her hand. "Um, Channing, I'd like you to meet Savannah... my daughter..." She introduced nervously. Channing was surprised. He shook Savannah's hand politely. "Savannah sweetie stay here for a sec, I'm just going to explain what happened that year, okay?" Savannah nodded and Shannon led him to the kitchen.

Shannon told him to sit down so she could speak to him. "I'm sorry for not telling you about her earlier. I wasn't expecting to meet anyone after my ex. Four years ago I caught my ex cheating on me. He tied up my daughter. He hit me. He hit her. He's in prison now but that day still haunts me. I never imagined myself dating again after that. It's okay if you don't want to see me again, I know how big this is, I'm not expecting you to stay." She explained sadly, a single tear rolling down her cheek. Channing shook his head and took her hands into his. "Shannon, I don't care that you have a daughter, I've always wanted a child anyway. You having Savannah is just a bonus for me, you're perfect, I'm not letting you go that easily. I'm never going to hurt or cheat on you or be nasty to your daughter, that's a promise." Channing replied happily. She smiled widely at him before answering "Then in that case the response to your question last night is yes." His eyes lit up and he gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

They returned to the living room where Savannah was waiting. "Sir, are you my mummy's boyfriend?" She wondered curiously, hers bluey-green eyes glancing to him then to her in a detective kinda way. "Yes little missy." He said back sweetly. Savannah ran into her arms where he picked her up and for her to whisper into his ear "Promise you'll make her happy?" Channing nodded and said out loud "I promise." He stayed for dinner and stayed to say goodnight to Savannah before going home.

6 o clock arrived to quickly for Chloe. She anxiously answered the door to let Chris in. "Hey. What is this thing you wanted to show me then?" Chris wondered. Chloe told him to stay put as she ran upstairs to fetch Jaydon. She felt so nervous. She didn't want Jaydon to frighten Chris and put him off her. She didn't want to lose him, she hated the thought of it happening. Why? She had fallen hopelessly in love with him. She returned the living room with Jaydon holding her hand. "Chris, this is um, this is Jaydon...he's my...my son." Chloe introduced. Chris was shocked. He shook Jaydon's hand politely. "Jay, I'm going to explain some things to Chris okay? Stay here please." Jaydon nodded. Chloe led Chris into the dining room.

They both took their seats in silence. "I apologise for not informing you about my Jay, I was just so scared you were going to back off. I never thought I'd be dating again you see after the incident with my ex. Three years ago my alcoholic ex set fire to my old house with Jaydon tied up inside it. It was horrible. He's in prison now of course but that day still haunts me at night. I'll understand if you don't want to see me again, this is a huge thing I get it. I'm not going to be surprised if you won't stay either. I'm sorry." Chloe explained feeling upset with one tear making its way down her cheek. Chris rolled his eyes before holding her hands and looking her deeply in the eyes. "I'm not going anywhere. This is a bonus, I've always wanted a child Chloe, I'm not letting this ruin anything. I'm happy with you. You're flawless and my life is incomplete with out you in it okay? I'm hoping that you and Jay will be my future now." Chris answered lovingly. Chloe beamed at him and wiped away her tear and said "Then yes, in answer to last night, I will be your girlfriend." Chris grinned and kissed her on the forehead.

They went back to the living room where Jaydon was patiently waiting for them to return. "Are you and mum boyfriend and girlfriend now?" He asked curiously. They nodded. Jaydon hugged Chris tightly and said "Promise you'll look after her and make her happy?" Chris nodded and picked him up before saying "I promise" and wrapping his pinky finger with Jaydon's and shaking it. Jaydon smiled widely. Chris stayed for dinner and to say goodnight to Jaydon before leaving.

For the first time since the incident Shannon and Chloe had a happy dream. Their luck had finally turned around.
