L knew why he had no dreams when he had fallen asleep. It was because Watari had forced him to. He had probably been too exhausted watching L cry, scream, and attempt to knock things over and just put him to sleep.

L woke up in his own bed, feeling tired and sick, but able to function. He reached over and picked his laptop up from the floor and decided to research a little on the topic of "old fashioned ways to poison people."

There were a lot. Way too many.

L narrowed his results by typing up, "How witches were killed."

The most common ways were physical, beheading, burning at the stake, hanging...

Well, the victims were sort of burned, but L was sure that wasn't a connection.

However, less common ways included being put to sleep or being thrown into a well. That clicked. The victims that were killed were found in bodies of water, and had shown no signs of struggling. They were probably drugged to the point of their systems shutting down.

But how did he do this? Did he sneak it into their food?

L sighed, putting his laptop away. By now, he was sure who was the killer: the third personality of Nikola, whoever that was. L didn't come across that one yet.

Watari poked his head into L's room. "Somebody just called asking for you..."

L looked at Watari. "I didn't tell anyone my number or that we lived here."

"Could be the police or a Wammy's kid, their voice is filtered."

L pushed the covers aside and got out of bed, running to the living room and picking up the phone. "Hello?"

"Hello, L Lawliet. I think you remember our last conversation." The voice said.

L felt his heart rate speeding up. "Yeah.."

"Well, I have another piece of information for you."

    "And that is..."

    "Mercury."

Then the caller hung up, leaving L listening to white noise for a few seconds before he slammed the phone down. Watari must have tried to track it, but the call was too short to be tracked. And mercury...the planet, the god, or the poison?

L guessed it was the poison. Back then, mercury was not known to be dangerous, yet it was...and it slowly killed people. Could a strong dosage kill instantly?

   "Feeling alright, Ryuzaki?"

L shook it off, finally saying, "Somebody out there knows my name...my real name...and is out to kill me with mercury...the same way everybody else was killed."

    "Was that the killer?"

    "Probably."

   "Any suspects?"

"I did suspect Nikola, but now I don't. Even though he has multiple personalties, neither one asked for my name and I never told him." L sighed, covering his eyes with his hands. "I feel sick."

    "Want something to eat?"

"No..." L pushed past Watari and ran straight to the nearest bathroom, kneeling in front of the toilet, and throwing up. He had eaten nothing since last night, so all that came out was bile.

He reached for the lever that flushed the toilet, barely pressing it. He let his arm fall limply to his side. He curled up on the cold tile, panting. He did not feel any better, and his confusion didn't help.
