Teal Rain (A Loki Fanfiction) ~ (The Avengers)

Chapter 7 ~ The Hulk Has Come.

Director Fury strode into the lab. "What are you doing, Mr. Stark?"

 "Uh, kind have been wondering the same thing about  you." Tony replied, standing behind the table next to Dr. Banner.

 " Well, I'm looking for Terra. But you're supposed to be locating the tesseract!"

 "We are. The model's locked and we're sweeping for the signature now! When we get a hit, we'll have the location within half a mile!" said Banner, pointing at a radar from across the room.

 "Yah, then you get your cube back. No muss, no fuss... What is phase 2?" asked Tony, looking at the screen in front of him.

 Steve entered into the room, slammed a giant gun-thing onto the table by the door, and answered, "Phase 2 is S.H.I.E.L.D. uses the Cube to make weapons!... sorry, computer was moving a little slow for me."

"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the tesseract. This does not mean that we're making-..." 

 Tony cut Fury off. "I'm sorry Nick, what were you lying?" He grabbed the screen and turned it to show the Director the weapon-plans S.H.I.E.L.D. was creating.

 "I was wrong Director." confessed Steve."The world hasn't changed a bit."

Suddenly, Terra barged into the room, causing everyone in the lab to go silent and glance in her direction.

"Terra! Where have you been!?" asked Fury, a little annoyed at her absence. 

 She ignored his question (she has too many already) and turns to Banner. "You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?"

"I don't know what you mean, Terra, but I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed!" Banner replied.

"Loki is manipulating you!"

Natasha and Thor entered the room in the middle of their conversation. 

"Terra's right! Loki is manipulating you!" said Natasha.

"And you've been doing what, exactly?" Banner asked.

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you!"

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because you suddenly get a little twitchy. I'd like to know, why S.H.I.E.L.D. is using the tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction!"

"It's because of him!" Fury pointed at Thor.

Thor looked confused and pointed to himself. "Me?"

"Last year Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that no only are we alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned."

Thor sounded offended. "My people want nothing but peace with your planet!"

"But your not the only people out there, are you? And your not the only threat! The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."

 Terra felt sick and her face went pale. Those words repeated themselves in her mind, "They can't be controlled!"  

"Like you control the cube?" asked Steve.

"Your work with the tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that the Earth is ready for a higher form of war!" boomed Thor.

"A higher form?"

"You forced our hand! We had to come up with something!" replied Fury.

"A nuclear deterrent. That always calms everything right down." said Stark.
