Teal Rain (A Loki Fanfiction) ~ (The Avengers)

Prologue ~ The Tesseract Has Awaken.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THE FIRST TWO PROLOGUES!! But, this story would make A LOT more sense if you do. (That's why they're prologues) The prologues mainly pertain to how Loki got to earth and what his "Glorious Purpose" is. So, I encourage you to read them both. They are very interesting, and you would understand the story a bit better if you DO read them.  But, if you really DO NOT want to, then be my guest!  I will not stop you ;)

The Tesseract has awaken. It is on a little world, a human world. They would wield its power, not knowing they have the key to it,  but our ally knows its workings as they never will. He is ready to lead and our force, our Chitauri, will follow. A world will be his and the universe yours. And the humans, what can they do, but burn?

"How bad is it?" asked Nick Fury, stepping out of a helicopter with female Agent Hill behind him. The whole base was on evacuation, at it wasn't a drill. People were scrambling with their things, packing and driving away.

Agent Phil Coulson walked up and replied, "That's the problem sir. We don't know."

Fury, Agent Hill, and Coulson strode through the hallways of the base towards a lab.

"Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago." 

"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to the test phase." replied Fury.

"He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous event."

 "It just turned itself on?" asked Agent Hill.

"Where are the energy levels now?" asked Fury.

"Climbing. When Selvig couldn't shut it down, we ordered evac." replied Coulson.

"How long to get everyone out?"

"Campus should be clear in the next half-hour."

"Do better."

With that, Coulson left, while Fury and Agent Hill walked towards the lab down some stairs.

"Sir, evacuation may be futile." said Hill.

"We should tell them to go back to sleep?" replied Fury.

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance."

"I need you to make sure the Phase 2 prototypes are shipped out"

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?"

"Until such times as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on. Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase 2 on a truck and gone."

"Yes sir." grumbled Hill, as she walked over to two other agents. "With me." she signaled them and they followed her out.

Fury stepped into the lab and walked towards Dr. Selvig, his black leather jacket flowing behind him. Selvig was an old man-scientist who looked to be in his 40's or 50's, with the greyish-white hair and a blue, plaid shirt. He stood by a computer with other scientists and were studying the rates of the Tesseract. The electric-blue cube was held in a metal, mechanic compartment in the center of the large, lab-room where another scientist stood next to it, poking it with a metal rod.

"Talk to me Doctor!" said Fury.

"Director." answered Selvig, walking up to him.

"Is there anything we know for certain?"
