Terra's eyes went wide. Loki moved his head back farther away to look down at her. She looked back up at him, full of doubt and sense.

"I am the key?" she squeaked a little.

Loki chuckled and answered, "Yes. Yes you are, and that is why I need you..."

Terra pushed him away with all the strength she had left, stumbling back out of his arms. "No, no! You don't need me for anything!  Director Fury-..."

"needed you too!" cut off Loki. He stood up and towered over the confused girl on the floor.

Terra stood up after him, meeting his gaze and had a worried look on her face. "He needed me too?"

"Yes Terriana. Fury and the others needed you to help them find the Tesseract, and to help them control it's power. You are the key to what they want--to what I want..."

It was all perfect sense. The Avengers knew about her abilities all this time, and had a good use for  her ... But why didn't they tell her anything before!?

Terra suddenly became very nervous. "What do you want?"

Loki opened his mouth to say something, but the pilot cut him off. "Sir, we are here."

He and Terra both looked to the pilot and then back at each other. A wide and mischievous grin grew across Loki's face as he grabbed Terra by the arm and pulled her close to him. He peered straight into her teal eyes and answered, "You will see..."

With that, the back door of the jet opened and he stepped out with Terra and some other soldiers. The jet had landed right on top of Stark Tower. They were in New York.

Loki stopped, turning to a soldier, he whispered something in his ear. The soldier nodded and took out a long, syringe. Loki's grip tightened on Terra's arm when the soldier approached her.

"What are you doing?" she asked, a little surprised. She saw the needle that was held by one of the soldiers and almost flipped out, but was held down firm by Loki. She wasn't usually scared of needles, but this one was BIG!  It was empty too, which meant they were taking blood from her. But why!?

Terra jerked again, to try to escape, but Loki went behind her and held her around the waist. The soldier grabbed her free arm and injected the needle into one of her main arteries. She winced as she felt ever little movement the needle made, which hurt a lot. She saw in awe as he needle was now full of blood and was removed from her arm. Hasn't she lost enough blood already!?

"It's ok, Terriana." said Loki, releasing her. "It was just a blood sample to test your power and it's reactions with the Tesseract."

Terra looked up at him, clearly pissed off.

Loki grinned in amusement and nodded. He grabbed her arm again and guided her to Dr. Selvig, who was also on top of the Stark Tower. He was on a laptop and was typing and clicking stuff. In front of it stood a large machine of some kind. In the center of it, was the blue cube of the Tesseract. It was floating around by some electric shocks holding it in place.

The soldier that took Terra's blood sample, handed the needle over to Dr. Selvig. He took it and looked over at Terra. A smile grew on his face as he took the blood from the needle and squirted it in a small bottle. "Why, hello, Terriana! It's nice to see the 'key' had finally arrived with it's 'lock'!"

Terra looked confused, but understood what he meant. The Tesseract was the 'lock' and she was the  'key'.... But what does the Tesseract lock that now needs to be opened?

"Loki, hold out your scepter!" said Dr. Selvig. Loki obeyed and held it out, sharp point facing Selvig. He took out a small metal pin, about as long as his forearm, and touched the blue stone on Loki's scepter, pulling out a strand of misty, blue-power. He plopped it quickly into the blood filled bottle and began to mix it. Suddenly, the blood in the bottle started to glow. It grew and grew until the glow shone out through the glass in the sun-light, giving off a bright, teal glow... the same color as Terra's eyes.
