I hear gasps all around me, but I don't care. Nothing matters anymore. All that's important now is my independence. I am finally free. I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
As I make my way to the cheering Dauntless section, I glance at Marcus. I can tell that he is in shock. I toss him a grin and take a seat with those of my new faction. Well, it will be my new faction... If I make it through initiation, that is...
The Dauntless guy next to me slaps my arm. I flinch, but he doesn't seem to mind. I guess this is customary among Dauntless members. "Great choice, man. You'll love the compound." I like him right away, his easygoing personality inviting.
"I'm sure." He grins, and introduces himself. "I'm Zeke. Dauntless-born, obviously." I nod. "Tobias." This doesn't seem to be news to him. "I know. Eaton, right? I thought you were going to stay in Abnegation forever? What happened to that?" Before I can try to make up a story, Jack Kang calls another name. "Cassandra Reyes."
