Thomas woke up earlier than usual, he couldn't sleep, he rolled for hours in his bed until he gave up. His conversation with Lenny was still very present in his head, and the more he thought about it, more questions appeared. He got really curious in relation what she said about his granddad being the only father figure present in her life. What about her dad? Didn't she have a dad?
"Thomas, you woke up with the birds," Jogi, national team coach asked him when he got in the dinning room. He was the first player to come and eat breakfast.
"Something like that," he whispered, taking a plate from his table. He went to the buffet table, he took his usual breakfast and than he sat, alone in the players table.
Jogi stand up from his sit and sat in front of him, where usual Mario would be.
"Have you seen the papers," Jogi asked calmly.
Thomas finished eating his bacon, and than look up to his coach, " No, I still haven't check out the papers back home or the international ones. They are saying good things about us, right?"
Coach smiled, " Of course, we played very good yesterday. All the reports praise our match and the players, special you, since you made the first hat trick of the World Cup."
Thomas rolled his eyes, while he drank a little of orange juice, " My hat trick is not that important, what is important is that we won and we took an important step to reach our objective."
Jogi smiled, "Always putting yourself in second place, but yes you're very right."
"I know," he said, " so we start preparing for Ghana today. More difficult then Portugal or in the same landing?"
"Same landing, but Ghana is a very consistent team. Remember never underestimate the opponent," Jogi lectured him once more. He always said that before every match.
"Yes, coach. I know," Thomas mumbled.
Jogi took a moment to observed his player, " So are you doing what Wolfgang asked you?"
Thomas smiled, " Yes, sir. All my free time is spent with Lenny. Don't worry."
Low laughed lightly, " Lenny? Hmm...I think Wolfgang was right when he said you two just needed to spend more time together. Less hostile with each other?"
"Yeah, we actually started to enjoy each other company. Were friends now," Thomas replied honestly.
"That's very good to hear. I really didn't want to put you on the bench. You're a crucial part of the team," Jogi said relieved.
Thomas laughed, " I think it would be worse if Kroos was benched...but yeah, I wouldn't like to be benched."
"I wouldn't either, but now that's not going to happen." Jogi was about to say something more but Bastian entered the room, he looked like him. Guess he wasn't the only one that didn't slept fine.
"Morning," Bastian greeted them, he wasn't in the good mood both Jogi and Thomas could see that.
"Good morning, Bastian. Well, I'm going to my room...I have a match to prepare. Have a nice breakfast, don't forget training is in three hours," coach stated while he stand up from his sit. He went to the table were he was before, he took the newspapers and his iPad. He said goodbye to them and left the room.
Bastian went to serve himself, than he sat in the end of the table, far away from where Thomas was. Muller looked to his friend, this couldn't go on any longer, there was no reason for Basti to be mad with him.
