26 June 2014, Arena Pernambuco Recife
Rain. Torrential rain. It wasn't one of the best climates to play a football match, but they were use to it, they had played many times in the rain.
Everyone was finishing getting ready for the match. They were minutes away from kick off. Thomas was the first one to get ready, he was very impatience and it wasn't just because of the match. Today, Wolfgang was going to talk with Derrick, and end his blackmail thing he had going on with Lenny.
"Thomas can you come here, its just a sec." Chris, one of the staff coaches called him. He was at the locker room door.
Thomas looked weirdly at him, not understanding what he wanted minutes prior the match. "Is something wrong?"
Thomas got up, following him. Chris didn't reply to his question, he didn't need to. When Thomas passed the door of the locker room waiting for him was Lenny. Wolfgang had made a special invite to her tonight, so Lenny wasn't working since she was Wolfgang's special guest for tonight match. It made a lot of sense. She wouldn't do very good work with all the nerves she had.
"Hey, you ok?" Thomas asked worried as he got close to Lenny. She had a very nervous look and he knew it wasn't because Germany was playing the last group stage match.
"Yes..." she said a bit hesitant. " I just wanted to give you good luck for today."
Thomas smiled, " Thanks."
He got close to her, putting his arms around her shoulders. He knew she wasn't ok, Lenny didn't know how to lie at least that's what he had learned among other things since they landed in Brazil. " You're not ok, Lenny."
She didn't look at him, " I...I'm...fine, Thomas. I just want this day to get over with."
He smiled lightly, not leaving his arms from her shoulders, " and it will. Lenny, everything is going to be ok. We're going to win this match, finish on top of the group and that thing with you're father is going to be solve. You're not going to get more calls from him or any of his crazy schemes to talk to you in person."
"I hope you're right. I need this to end once and for all." Lenny said.
"It's going to end," Thomas said, kissing her forehead right in that moment.
Maybe it was his way of calming her down or maybe was him saying to himself to be calm. He knew he wasn't the guy to make gestures like that in public. He never did when he had a girlfriend or to his other colorful girl friends but with Lenny... it was natural. He felt like he had to do this, he felt like she needed to know that he was there for her no matter what.
This World Cup was just in the brink of beginning and so much behind close doors had already happen, if someone one day told him that he would be kissing Lena's Dassler forehead to calm her nerves down, he wouldn't have believed in it. What more could happen before they returned back home?
"Thank you...for being here for me," she whispered sincerely.

"Come on Germany!" Wolfgang said soon the break was over and the players were coming back to the field.
It was still 0-0, they needed to win if they wanted to finish on top of the group.
"The game is still difficult and this rain isn't helping." Lena said, the torrential rain made the ball slower and that complicated Germany's strategy a lot.
Lenny, Wolfgang and other DFB personal were watching the game in the VIP part of the stadium.
Part of the stadium erupted in cheers and chants when Germany, finally, scored. Thomas was the one that gave Germany the lead over USA.
