Becoming Me – Chapter 10

"Albert, what are you doing here?" I said kind of coldly. I was genuinely confused because he was never nice to me and then he just suddenly shows up at my door.

"I need your help...it's my brother," he said while looking in the door like he was expecting me to ask him to come inside.

"What about your brother? He made his choice with me. Come in," I finally said. My brother looked at me questioningly. I just shrugged my shoulders because I was just as confused as he was.

"This Hilary girl has got to go!" He said blatantly. I was shocked because I don't know why he chose me of all people to come to. I lead him to our living room after waving off my mom and saying that I would be back soon.

"What's wrong with Hilary? She's my friend," I said truthfully.

"She's conniving, manipulative, and sneaky. I think you would be the better choice for my little bro," I just looked at him with a shocked expression because a week earlier, I'm sure he would have been saying those things about me. I was dying to hear more.

"Goon. What do I have to do with any of this?" I said pointedly,wanting him to get to the point.

"Because he likes you! The only reason he's going out with Hilary is because you ignored his attempts at talking to you. Look, if he gets screwed over by this girl then you're the person to blame. This will all be your fault," Albert said accusingly. I just looked at him with the most dumbfounded expression because I had no idea that Derek felt so strongly about me. I liked him too and only ignored him because of how my mom was acting.

"Look,I wanted to talk to him. I-I've just been going through some family issues. Just please tell him that and that I am sorry," I sobbed sincerely.

"How about you tell him yourself?!" he yelled at me which only made me cry harder. I had been trying to text, call, and snap Derek for days and he had just been blatantly ignoring me.

"I tttt-tried he just ignoring me," I whispered. At that moment Josh walked in and did not look too happy.

"Nerd,what did you do to my sister?" he yelled. Albert looked frazzled to say the least. I felt like I needed to step in and save him from my brother.

"He didn't do anything, he just stopped by to tell me something and I got emotional as always haha," I said whipping the tears trying to laugh it off.

"Think about what I said," Albert whispered to me before walking out and back the street to his house. I didn't realize I had zoned out until Dave called to me,

"Little girl, you want the rest of your dinner?"

"You can have it," I said, knowing that that was the reason he asked,not because he cared if I ate or not. We had to get those surveillance cameras, my our dad would win the case for sure if the judge saw how they acted behind the scenes.

I woke up the next morning thirty minutes early so I could catch a ride with Albert and Derek. I ran to Josh's room before I could forget to tell him. But before I could knock on the door I was stopped in my tracks by my phone ringing. I ran to get my phone and answered the phone quickly.

"Hey,do you need ride to school?" Rory asked kindly.

"No I don't, thanks though!" I said and hung up quickly. It was just so odd to me that he would randomly offer to get me for school. After I told Josh my plans, I walked across the street before my neighbors could pull off. I caught them just in time.

"Hey guys! Can I catch a ride to school?" I asked innocently, but it was all apart of my plan. Derek just looked at me with a blank expression on his face.

"Ask him, he's the one driving," he muttered harshly. I just looked at Albert with pleading eyes and he just nodded his head basically saying that it was okay.

The whole ride to school was awkward. There was no talking and just so much tension. I obviously wasn't the only one who noticed it because Albert continued to change the radio station to help lighten the mood. When we got to the school my day started on a bad note. Hilary walked up to the car, ripped Derek's door open, and started an intense make-out session with him right in front of me. I could have very easily thrown up in that very moment but I refrained. I just got out of the car and headed towards my friends.

"Did you just get out of the car with Derek and Albert?" Kel asked dramatically.

"Yes, and nothing at all happened." I said sadly.

 "Well, maybe that's how it was meant to be," Rory bluntly said.
