Becoming Me - Chapter One
Present Time
"WAKE UP!" I heard coming from outside of my bedroom door. It was the same unnecessary yelling that I'd heard for the last 9 years of my life. Just as I was about to get out of my bed, I heard someone break through my door.
"Did you not hear me calling you? It's time for you to get up! It's your big day, your first day at high school!" my mom yelled excitedly at me, as she threw clothes at me to wear. I wasn't that excited for high school, because what if I got lost, what if somebody bullied me, what if I forgot my lunch? So many horrible things could happen that would ruin my first day.
"Mom, what time does Josh usually leave?" I asked my mom, because I had to ride with my older brother to school from then on. He was a new senior, and I was a freshmen. Of course he didn't want to take me to school, but those were the orders. Our mom was trying to get us to "bond."
"He's leaving in fifteen minutes so you better start getting ready. But Lord have mercy the first thing you need to do, is tame that mane!" she said casually as she walked out of my room. There was no way that I was going to be able to perfect my long, dark brown hair in less than fifteen minutes. I threw on the outfit she picked out for me and was amazed at her wonderful taste. I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and then tried to do my hair. After that epic fail, I just ended up brushing it and I went downstairs to wait for my annoying older brother.
"Go change!" my brother ordered me.
"What? Why? I think I look hot." I said confidently.
"Exactly! You are not going to high school looking like that. The guys will be all over you!" he demanded worriedly.
"Oh! Look at the time...it seems that we have to go, and I no longer have any time to change. So, let's go!" I said enthusiastically. He had no other choice than to agree with me so we grabbed our things and left. This day might not be too bad after all.
