"Hey sis, so how was working on the project?" Josh asked as I got in his car. I wasn't going to tell him about riding on the motorcycle because I knew he would freak.
"It was pretty eventful," I told him. He looked at me questionably and then I told him everything that happened between Derek and Hilary. "And then, Zach walked outside and punched Derek."
"I would have done the same exact thing! That Derek kid is bad news," He honestly said. I completely agreed, even though I had a thing for Derek I knew that he was nothing but trouble. Zach was the good guy and it's crazy how different things were from just a couple of weeks ago.
"I felt bad for Hilary though, she didn't deserve that. And to think that I actually liked Derek and fell for that nice guy act makes me feel like an idiot," I sadly confessed. Saying it out loud really did make me realize how dumb I had been.
"You liked Derek? Yeah don't pursue that, because if he hurt YOU I would have to do more than just punch him," Josh announced. With that we were finally home. "Hey, I got one of those cameras and I set it up in the kitchen. If something goes down tonight they will be caught red-handed." I was so happy that he did because being with Dave ruined my day, every day.
"Look who decides that they finally want to show up. Josh, you're done. Give me the keys to your car, you guys will have to find a ride to school from now on," Dave commanded. I just stood there in shock. He couldn't take Josh's keys away, he came to pick ME up.
"Uh no, I will keep my keys. I did nothing wrong. I had football practice and then I went to pick up MY little sister because she had to work on a project at her friend's house," Josh said while walking past Dave. Dave then decided to push Josh to the ground and started kicking him.
"What the heck are you doing?! STOP!" I screamed at Dave with tears falling down my face. Josh just got up, "Come on Dani," he said and then walked to his car. I followed directly behind him because I did not want to be alone with a child abuser.
"Where are we going?" I asked Dave as I buckled off and we sped off.
"We're going to Dad's, I'm not taking this crap anymore," Josh said. I was happy to be going to our dad's but I had no idea what my mom would do over this. If Dave did that for us just getting home a little late, just imagine what would happen if we went to our dad's.
"I don't think that would help the situation, we could probably go to one of our friend's houses," I suggested. Josh began to think it over and then after not being able to think of anyone I called Kelsey.
"Hey girl, can Josh and I crash at your house for the night? ... okay sounds good, we'll be there in a few," I said then hung up with her. "Kel said that we could crash at her house, we'll have to find somewhere else to go tomorrow if this isn't resolved by then," I told Josh.
"Dani, we're not going back to that house, ever. I will go over there while mom and Dave are at work tomorrow and get the camera but that's it. I can't put you in danger like that again." I didn't know how he was so concerned about me when he was the one who had just gotten physically abused. We then pulled up to Kel's house.
"Come on in, guys! You have to tell me everything," Kel said.
