"He what?!" Kel asked the next morning.

"He left m-," I tried to say before Rory oh so rudely cut me off.

"That's weird. I don't think you need to talk to him," Rory said firmly. Okay this is what pissed me off. How dare he say something like this to me? I have never stopped him from talking to anyone so who did he think he was, trying to control me?

"I'm sorry but I don't really care who you think I should talk to," I said immediately regretting it. Sometimes I could be a real you know what, but I honestly get offended easily.

"You know what? I'm sorry I even bothered, I was just trying to prevent your pathetic-self (but he used another choice word) from being heart broken yet again!" Rory said storming away. I looked at Kel and she looked at me and we both had our mouths wide open from shock from that craziness.

"Well who pissed in his grits this morning? 'Cause he needs to get his stuff together, that's ridic," she said amazed.

"It's my fault though. I overreacted about what he said about Derek. I only said that because I don't even remember what it feels like to have somebody to like me, and even the thought of Derek liking me just a little bit excites me."

"Just apologize, but not right now because he is clearly ticked off," she said while motioning towards Rory angrily stomping around headed towards his first class.

"I gotta head to class. See you at PE," I said waving to her running to my next class.

I got to Home Ec right before the bell rang and I took a seat in my assigned seat from the day before, next to the jerk. When I sat I took a sigh of relief, happy that I made it to class on time. "Is my presence annoying you? If that's your problem then you can keep your comments to yourself weirdo!" Zach said basically screaming at me. I just sat there in shock. What had I done to this guy that made him hate me so much.

"Zachary really? Calm down, she's cool!" Hilary, the girl from lunch yesterday said.

The rest of class was kind of boring since Zach refused to talk to me. I just decided to zone his weirdness out and pay attention to the teacher. When class was over I thanked Hilary for standing up for me and she said, "Oh it's no problem, that's just my moody step-brother." What's up with these kids and their moody brothers I did not have time for that. I thanked her again and got out of there, I couldn't handle it anymore.

School had been pretty boring until right before lunch when Derek came in the picture. I was headed to my locker to put my books away when I felt an arm around my shoulders. When I looked up, there he was, looking as gorgeous as ever. "Tell me you're going to eat lunch with me today," Derek whispered in my ear.

"Uhh, I-I g-uess I could. I-if that's what you want," I said finally figuring out what I wanted to say. I was so nervous, he was so close.

"Well great come sit with me and my friends outside!" He said backing away from me allowing me to finally breathe. I really wanted to go with him but I couldn't just leave my friends, especially since Rory had already been mad at me.

"C-can I please invite my friends, so I won't just be ditching them?" I asked nervously. What if he was some jerk and said no.

"Sure! Go get them, we'll be right out there," Derek said while pointing towards a window that showed some old picnic tables outside. I wondered how my friends were going to react to that invitation.
