Becoming Me – Chapter 12
"Excuse me...I'm not getting on that thing so you better be kidding," I seriously stated. I was terrified of everything and getting on a motorcycle would definitely not help that. Not to mention our child!
"Unless you wanna walk, I see no way around it babe," He said smugly.
"Did you just call me babe? Oh heck no, I'm not anyone's babe and especially not anyone's who is trying to kill me. Alright, babe?" I said sarcastically. I really couldn't see another way to get to his house unless I rode his bike. I mean I could ride with Hilary but she stole Derek from me and I don't have much to say to her. I'm sure they would be all over each other the whole car ride anyway. Zach and his bike were my best bet.
"Are you done?" Zach asked.
"Alright, let's go. Where are we gonna put Levi?" I asked curiously. I could not afford for us to mistreat Levi anymore because our grade was quickly dropping.
"Just put him in your backpack. What? That's our safest bet!" Zach said. So I gently put Levi in my backpack and hopped on the bike after Zach. This would be an interesting ride.

"Oh my gosh! That was the most fun I've had in a really long time," I yelled excitedly. We had just pulled into the driveway of a ginormous house. I had no idea what Zach and Hilary's parents did but they had to be rich.
"Well Miss 'I'm too scared' had a good time? I knew you would like it. And you're still alive! How about that," Zach said. He was right, I did like it no I loved it. My mom would have definitely killed me if she knew about that.
"Well are we gonna go in and start on this project?" I asked while pushing past him. Just as I did that Hilary pulled up in her pink Jeep Wrangler with Derek in tow. They seemed to be arguing and I tried not to listen in but that was kind of tough because they were screaming.
"So you don't like me now?! Is that what you're saying? You weren't saying that last night when we were...Oh hey guys! I didn't know you were here," Hilary said obviously frustrated.
"Yeah, sorry we weren't trying to interrupt. We're just here to work on our Home Ec project," I explained. Zach then went to the front door and unlocked it, leading me to a kitchen.
"They've only been dating like a week and a half and they've been arguing every day," Zach whispered while rolling his eyes. I tried to hide my excitement because that meant that they weren't going to be together long and I could swoop right in.
"Just get out, we're over! You took my virginity and now you don't like me?! What kind of jerk are you?" Hilary screamed then slammed the front door. She ran up the stairs crying to her room. I had no idea what to say, she was my friend and I felt bad for being happy that her and Derek broke up. He obviously wasn't the guy I thought he was.
I ran after Hilary but didn't get very far since this was my first time at their house and I didn't know where I was going. After about five minutes of not being able to find her I just made my way back to the kitchen.
"What were you doing?" Zach questioned.
"I was just looking for your sister, after all that happened between her and Derek I just assumed she needed a friend," I stated. Zach smiled at me and went back to cooking what he started while I was gone. "What are you cooking?" I asked.
"Just pancakes," he answered. I perked up at that because I loved breakfast for dinner.
"You know what? You didn't even correct me for calling Hilary your sister instead of your step sister," I told him.
"Well I know that you know we're not related by blood. I don't see the point of saying it every-time plus shes been feeling a lot like my sister lately. Like I just acted like a protective brother and I punched Derek," He said proudly and I gasped.
"You did what? You can't just go punching people. He did deserve it though," I said.
"Even though we might not technically be related, I love Hilary like she's my sister. He treated her badly and got what he deserved," Zach stated. We went the rest of the time eating pancakes and working on our homework.
"I had fun, thank you," I told Zach. He leaned over and gave me a hug,
"No problem, any time. We both need this grade! Go check on Hilary before you leave. I'll see you tomorrow," he said nicely. I waved goodbye, called my brother, and began to walk upstairs to talk to Hilary.
"You can come pick me up now, I'll send you the address," I told Josh. As soon as I knocked on the door Hilary opened it with a face full of tears. "Aw honey, are you okay?"
"H-he's just such a jerk. I know we didn't date long but I really liked him and he just walked all over me," She said before breaking down in another sob of tears.
"He obviously wasn't the one for you! You'll find someone else we're still so youn---" I got cut off by a car horn. "I have to go, that's my brother. Just call me if you need to talk," I told Hilary. Then I walked down the stairs and out the door. This definitely had been an eventful afternoon. Surprisingly I had a really good time with Zach and what I had been wishing for had finally come true but why did I feel so bad about it?
