Chapter 22
Love Chains

She understood what Lisanna meant, and knew that it was unfair for Natsu as well to keep choosing the Sabers but, for her, she thought that Sting strongly needs her.

Lucy took hold of Natsu's hands and kept them lock with hers. "Hey, Natsu. I've liked you but, things have changed now.", she looked at him with teary eyes. He knew Lucy as much as he loves her. To him, she's like a heaven-sent angel. She was his life. She was his best friend, his teammate, and his partner. She was like a radiant sun that keeps him want to be stronger than anybody else to be able to protect everyone who he holds dear to him.

"I'll be waiting for you, Lucy, no matter how long it takes.", he pulled her close to him enough for her to have trouble breathing. They were in a deep and warm embrace. With this in sight Lisanna took a leave, while Happy  was crying silently. 'You don't have to wait', she said to herself that she cannot bring to tell him upfront. She broke their embrace letting out some tears.

She went to Minerva to talk about her return to the Sabertooth whether she's welcome or not.

She found her room open and saw Minerva, however, she's not the only one in there.

Sting was also there.

The thing that Natsu couldn't tell her was that Minerva and Sting are now officially  dating.

She was standing in front of the opened door and Minerva took notice of her.

"Lucy, this is...."- before she continues on Lucy's surprised face kept her frozen. Lucy ran away from that place then as Minerva decides to follow her, she was grabbed on the hand by Sting.

"What's wrong Minerva?", he asked and she thought about what will happen, what should she do to correct everything. She took care of Sting for two months and just a month ago Sting finally asked her out. At that time she didn't really mean to accept it however, for a long time now, she's been in love with him.

A month ago...

"Milady, I didn't realize that you've been with me for a long time now.", Sting stated while looking at his cup of coffee trying to hide his awkward expression. "Yes, it's indeed a long time now.", she quickly agreed with a sad smile. 'I've been with him longer than Lucy', she said on her mind, 'But, he never really considered me as a woman'.

Sting stood up and went to her side. She was in deep thought that she haven't realized. Sting tried to take her attention but it was useless. Then he decided to take her hand. He held it, knelt down, kissed it, and Minerva finally returned to the real world and found herself in an awkward situation. She quickly moved her hands away, and she was all red even her ears. 

Her heart beats faster than before. She can't say any words out from her mouth. 'No! No! No! Sting likes Lucy and so does Lucy. They love each other', her mind was in a mess. She doesn't want to betray both of them.

'There's no proof that we could find Lucy, three months already passed and since we haven't found her yet we can't tell Sting anything about her'

She argues to herself. She doesn't know the right thing anymore. Everything's messing with her, her heart and mind contradicts. She knew that she'll have to encounter this kind of situation soon but it's harder to deal the reality of it happening.

"Minerva.", he called out her name.

Lucy ran away with tears coming out from her eyes. She cried and cried until she reached the port.

Natsu and Lisanna saw her running to outside and both knew what happened but they couldn't follow after her even if they wanted to.

"Sting and Minerva....", Lucy thought.

She was sitting on the stairs near the port and was contemplating. "I always knew about Minerva's feelings yet to my own selfishness I grabbed unto Sting."

"This can't do. I love him so much but he's happier if things reverted back to how things should be."

"I'll have to go back... to my family... To Fairy Tail."
