Just Another Girl In The Crowd

PART 20

Police sirens blare loudly through the house.
What the heck?
I look out the large window downstairs to see 3 police cars lined up outside the house. What's going on?!
I run to the door and burst it open to see 4 armed policemen walking towards me.

"Miss Seski Banaché?" One asks as he gets closer to me.

I anxiously nod.

"I am arresting you on suspicion of Identity Theft on multiple accounts." The officer demandingly says.

"MUMMY?!" Jacob screeches.

I spin round to see him in Calum's arms, crying profusely.

"It's okay Jakey. Mummy will be alright. I'll be back soon!" I cry as an officer puts me in handcuffs.

How did they find out?!

They tug me out to the first police car and state my court rights before pushing me into the backseat. My heart beats rapidly and I panic. I can't be arrested AGAIN. This can't be happening! I have a son! I've sorted my life out!

EARLIER IN THE DAY...
CALUMS P.O.V

I've been home for 4 days now and I can finally do what I need to do. I've wanted to do this for so, so long.
Carefully, I pick up my cell phone and silently dial the number, trying not to wake Seski who is sleeping peacefully beside me. I take one last look at her once perfect face and my heart sinks slightly.

"Hello, emergency services how may I help you?" A voice asks.

I silently tip-toe out of the room and into Jacob's room.

"Yeah hi, can I speak to a police sergeant please?" I whisper whilst looking at Jacob adoringly.

After waiting a few minutes a sergeant is put on the line.

"Good morning, I would like to report a case of identity theft from a couple years back. I'm not sure how much money was taken over the course of the crime but it was quite a lot." I explain.

"Right, may I have your name please?" The sergeant asks.

"Calum Hood." I reply.

The line goes silent for a minute, leaving me to think about the mistake I have just made.

"And what is the address?" The sergeant eventually asks.

"Number 67, Blossom Street Road. London." I reply.

The police sergeant tells me he will send officers over to arrest the suspect and immediately I feel relieved.
I can finally live with my son. We can be together and no more Seski to ruin that. She can't corrupt our son any more than she already has. I've made the correct decision, I know I have.

CURRENT TIME SESKI'S P.O.V

Who told them about this?

"Ma'am, we need to take you in for some questioning if that's okay with you. I am Sergeant D.A Brown, and this is Detective Barnes." The sergeant explains to me.

I well up with tears slightly but blink them back and manage to nod. A lump building in my throat and my body going weak as I follow them into the familiar questioning room, which I have seen one too many times.
I sit in the seat opposite the police men and stare at them blankly.
The set up the recording and stare right at me.

"So, Miss Banché, you aren't unfamiliar to identity theft are you?" Detective Brown asks me, his eyes look black with hatred and disgust as he glares at me.

I shake my head. "No sir, I'm not. But all my crime was a while ago. I'm not a crazy teenager anymore. I have a son!" I exclaim anxiously.

"So, when would you say the last crime took place?" He asked me. Still glaring at me intimidatingly.

I look down and shake my head. "Um about 3 ish years ago..." I manage to splutter, tears falling.

The detective nods and hands me a tissue. "Take your time." He kindly says.

I dry my eyes and pull myself together slightly.

"I didn't mean to do it..." I begin but am interrupted when the sergeant slams his hands on the table.

"EVERY CRIMINAL SAYS THAT! A MURDERER, A RAPIST. YOU, AN IDENTITY THEIF! A LOWLIFE!!" He barks nastily.

I sob harder and harder.

"Please... I have a son. It was years ago!!" I cry.

Who did this? Who could possibly do this to me and Jacob? I thought this was all going well. I bet it was one of Calum's crazed fans...
