Just Another Girl In The Crowd

PART 18

Calum wraps his arm around me as we snuggle in bed.

"How couldn't the other boys remember me?" I slowly ask.

Calum shrugs.

"They knew you as Mia. They didn't know Seski." He whispers.

I rest my head in the crook of his neck and he plays with my hair gently.

"I love you." I hear him murmur softly.

"I love you too. Please don't leave me again." I sadly reply.

He looks down at me and shakes his head. "I'll never leave you."

I nod and smile slightly. He'll never leave me. That's a good thing, right?

I wake up to a loud bang. Fucking hell what's going on?! I look beside me to see Calum gone. Where is he?! I jump out of bed, panicking. Maybe Jacob's dream is coming true!! I sprint through to his room, my heart pounding to see his bed made and his uniform gone.
My eyesight blurs and my breath continues to quicken, shorter breaths each time.
I run down the stairs, slipping slightly on the cold marble as I enter the kitchen to see Calum and Jakey eating cereal.
My heart continues pounding as I hold my chest. Thank god.

"Are you alright?" Calum gently asks me, getting up and holding me tight.
I nod but stay silent.

"MUMMY?!" Jacob shrieks and runs towards me, wrapping his tiny arms around me.

I pick him up and hold him close to me.
"What's the matter?" They both ask me in chorus.

I shake my head. "Sorry I heard a loud bang and I panicked."

Calum laughs.

"Jakey accidentally dropped his spoon on the floor, that was what the noise was. Sorry." He explains and smiles.

I laugh and roll my eyes. I'm an idiot. Calum would never do anything to hurt me or Jakey. He loves us. We're all one big family now. A perfect, happy family.

"Sorry mummy." Jacob smiles and kisses my cheek.

"It's alright darling. I needed to get up anyway." I giggle and squeeze him.

Calum joins in on the hug and soon we are all in a huge bundle on the sofa.

"I love my mummy and daddy." Jacob innocently smiles.

"And we love you." I hear Calum laugh and begin to tickle Jacob.

Jacob squirms and laughs loudly.
Fuck he has school! We are going to be late!!

"CALUM STOP!! JAKEY GET IN THE CAR!!" I screech.

I sprint to get the car keys but Calum stops me.

"I'll drive Jakey to school." He smiles.
I smile slightly.

"I'm coming with you. You don't know where his school is." I laugh.

We all get in the car and Calum starts it. We drive quickly to Jakey's school and drop him off before me and Calum return home.
We put the keys on the rack and I go to the bedroom.
I feel his strong arms wrap around my waist and pick me up from behind.
He carries me to the bed and gently places me down as I giggle.

"You're beautiful in the morning." He smiles.

"Oh thanks, I'm pretty ugly the rest of the day I know." I tease.

He rolls his eyes. "You're even MORE beautiful the rest of the day."

My heart flutters and I smile at him.
He hovers over me and his strong biceps hold him up.
Slowly, he leans down. Kissing my lips softly.

"Do you promise you love me..?" I manage to whisper through the kiss.

"Of course I do" he murmurs as his lips hover above mine, our warm breath mingling.

Our eyes lock romantically and he smiles.
"I love you and Jacob so much." Calum murmurs and flops next to me.

We cuddle for a while, him keeping me warm and safe.

"Won't you have to go on tour soon?" I say, breaking the silence.

Calum stays silent.

"Calum." I say sternly, reminding him I asked a question.

"Yes." He bluntly says and runs his fingers through my hair.

I pull up my duvet and he cuddles me more tightly.

"What will I tell Jacob?" I ask.

Calum sighs. "I don't know. Tell him that his daddy is going away for a bit."

I shake my head and pull away from him, turning over in bed and letting tears fall.

"Calum, you can't just come into a child's life, act like the FUN FUN FUN parent who is perfect in every way and then just leave for a while." I quietly snap and wipe my eyes.

"I will come back." He gently reminds me.
I sigh.

"No, it's not about you coming back. It's the fact that Jacob has just met you and he adores you. You're his father and he knows that. If you leave, he'll be distraught. I'll be a wreck. You've come into our lives and fucked them up AGAIN. You wanted to meet our son. You wanted to be the perfect father to him. But oh no, no, no, no, you're stupid band are wayyyyy more important that your family. Good one Calum. Good one." I snap at him, rage building up inside of me.

"It's not like that." He assures me in a soft tone. "I never fucked up your life in the first place anyway. You were the one that fucked us up, 'Mia'."

I shoot round and slap his face.

"I thought it'd be different this time. Obviously fucking not." I cry.

He holds his cheek and looks at me.

"Seski please..." He whispers to me. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it."

"Save your sorry's. I don't need you or them. Me and Jakey will be fine without you. We were for the past 3 years whilst you were away with the ridiculous band, and I'm sure we will be okay for the next 15 years." I snap once again.

Calum brings my face closer to his.

"We can FaceTime every night. I'll send you money for you and Jacob whilst I'm on tour and when we are touring the UK, I will stay here with you. Honestly we will be okay." He assures me.

I tear up and sigh.

"How long is the tour for?" I ask quietly.

"Only 5 months. And we are staying in the UK for two weeks of them 5 months. So I'll be at home half way through." He smiles.

"Just please don't leave us. Don't leave your son. He loves you more than anything in the world and he barely knows you." I warn Calum.

"I won't. I love him and you so much. I just want us to all be together." He replies and strokes my head.

I hope he does mean what he says. I really do...
