That afternoon, Anya was discharged. Anya and Nick had their first argument. He wanted to carry her up stairs since the doctor told her to keep her weight off her leg. Anya was mortified, she was going to walk and that was it. He did not have to stress himself just to see to her comfort.
"But you cannot stress your leg." Nick pointed out.

"I'll get a cane," She argued stubbornly.

Nick glowered at her and lifted her out of the car. This time, they were not using his bucket of bolts car, but this time, they were using a full sized SUV and Chadwick was driving. "Nick, put me down!"

"No, you can argue all you want but you are not goin down and walking on that leg." He said and walked to the buildig.

"I might be heavy for you," she whispered her hid her face on his chest.

"You actually weigh a ton," he said, his voice wasn't even strained.

She hit him on the chest, "Shame on you for complaining about a woman's weight. She realized they were riding on the elevator. "The elevator is fixed?"

"Yes, but the rocket scientists were warned not to conduct anymore experiments on the elevator." Nick said and stepped out with Chadwick in tow.

Anya sighed, when they reached their floor, Nick turned to his apartment. He settled her on his bed much to Anya's mortification. "I can't stay here!"

"I'm having the other room cleaned up and ready for you. Chadwick will be staying in your apartment since you still have no door. You'll be staying here," he announced.

"Then Chadwick will have no protection!" she called out after him.

"We've moved your things here, all that you have in your apartment are your furniture and some of your books. Your other things are in the next bedroom. The elevator door has been designed to be opened on our floor without or permission. It will only be opened with a key."

"What? Why? What if you get visitors? What about Pam and Paul?"

"And what about her boyfriend?" Chadwick piped in.

Nick frowned at him, "They will have to inform you first so you can open the door for them. No, she has no boyfriend."

Chadwick laughed, "Anya made you a welcome home dinner. I put it all in the fridge for you last night."

Nick smiled at her Anya blushed. The smile was certainly made her nerves hum like crazy. "It's just some pot roast and humble pie," she mumbled.

His smile broadened, "Thank you," he said and said and lifted her up again. "I'm sure you made enough for the both of us. Come on, I'm sure you're hungry. I've always hated hospital food."

"What about me?" Chadwick pouted.

"Go to the nearest fast food and buy a burger and fries," Nick said as he placed Anya by the dining table.

Chadwick grabbed his chest as though in pain. "Years of friendship gone all because of a woman."

Nick shook his head, "She cooks way better than anyone I know. I haven't seen my mother bake pie other than her shepherd's pie. Sometimes I think she buys it from a store."

Anya frowned, "Well, you're going to have to warm the pot roast in the oven, well, at least all of those. Eating wouldn't be an experience if your food is too cold for your palette. Don't use the microwave, though, it's not healthy to nuke the food. Besides, it will dehydrate the pot roast and will not be as good."

"It's the only way he can cook with," Chadwick said and looked at Nick with a smile, he was thoroughly enjoying this. Usually at home, Nick would simply watch everyone. Actually seeing him interact with another person, a woman to be exact, made Chadwick realize the St. Anthony woman gene was also strong in this one.
