Pam looked at her friend, she was now looking an out of sorts Anya, the woman who was going to break down into a million pieces the moment her husband walks out of her life forever. They were now in her new office and told Nick she was swamped with work and could not make it to their lunch appointment. The woman didn't even have the nerve to say lunch date. Since Anya was pushing herself back to her stone cold reality or else face time in an asylum, and honestly, her best friend was thinking of having a room reserved for Anya.

"You kissed him?" Pam asked.

Anya managed a nod, "I just wanted to erase her from his lips. I just want to say that for this six short months, I want to claim him as mine."

"You're an idiot, a stupid, idiot, moron who walked away from love from the man who could have given it to you unconditionally, without reservation. But you had to be the martyr and hurt yourself," Pam scolded.

"I get it, I'm the stupid, idiot, moron who fell in love with the man who is easy to love. But, Pam, he hesitated when we found put I was sterile. You could have seen the disappointment on his face when the doctor told us."

"Yeah I hear you," Pam said derisively. "But you didn't give him a chance to change his mind. It would have changed the day you found out you were pregnant."

"What if it didn't? What if I didn't get pregnant and now I have to live with the consequences of living a lie. I don't want that!" Tears were falling down now, for the first time, she was crying out her frustration and disappointment and her foolishness.

"But aren't you living a lie right now?" Pam asked quietly and mcomforted her friend. Anya didn't reply, she knew what the answer was to the question. "You're going to have to stop living in the lie, Anya. It will just hurt you."

Later that night , Anya was sitting in the living room unable to join her husband in bed. She made sure the man was asleep before she left. She couldn't sleep her conscience was killing her, at this rate she was going to end up either wasting away or ending up with a heart failure.

"Mommy, why are you awake?" Nicolette said out of the blue.

Anya jumped, "I couldn't sleep. Must be new house nerves," Anya said.

Nicolette joined her on the couch and lay in her mother's arms. "Goodnight, mommy," Nicolette whispered, "I love you."

Anya kissed her daughter on her forehead, "I love you too, so much. You are my whole world, you know that." She released a deep breath, releasing the tension in her body. She yawned, and looked at her daughter, the little girl was falling asleep.

Nick watched the pair and could feel the love between them. He had woken up in sweat when he realized he was alone in bed. He got up and immediately searched for his wife. When he saw them in the living room, he looked at them, he couldn't remember the last time he felt this peace. His heart at the moment was full but he wondered how long was that going to last. Anya wasn't his, she avoided him and had Lucas at the back of her pocket. It didn't matter that he was married to her, what mattered was her heart didn't belong to him. He wondered if she ever did feel anything for him ten years ago.

The following week was the last week of vacation and Nick decided to pack them up and take them to the beach house where Nicolette was conceived. It was also convenient for Nick to get to know how much his wife hand changed since he would be spending time with her the entire week. But Anya decided to bring her best friends, hence Nick wouldn't be able to seduce his wife since there were only two rooms in his cottage and he had to share the bed with his wife and daughter. Correction, he was going to buy one sofa bed to be installed in the living room so his daughter and her friend could sleep there.
