Dearest Nick,

It has been quite a while since your last reply. I hope that this letter finds you in good health. Congratulations on your engagement. You got back together with Michelle. I am glad you did reconsider your feelings and now you two are meeting toe to toe with everything.

I am happy for you, I truly am. I pray that you and Michelle will have many fruitful years together. May your children inherit your kind heart and gentle personality. You deserve all the good things in life.

With prayers,

Anya

"Damn it, Chadwick, what have you done this time?" Nick demanded as he burst inside his brother-in-law's office.

"Nothing, mother is simply wants me to go and hide out for a while. At least until the heat of the case dies down," Chadwick pointed out.

"Lauren's going to be upset," Nick muttered.

"Besides, it will take your mind off the wedding preparations," Chadwick pointed out knowing how stressed Nick had become right after he asked Michelle to marry him. To this day Chadwick still didn't know who did the asking. Nick was simply going with the flow of life ever since Anya left him.

Better yet, ever since Anya betrayed him.

Chadwick shook his head as he looked at the man who retreated into himself. Nick rarely smiled anymore. He also rarely showed himself and didn't really show any of his emotions. He knew his brother-in-law was now protecting himself from any kind of pain he had felt. Nick had given everything to Anya only the woman had taken everything including his heart.

"Where are we going?" Nick asked, clearly the man was irritated.

"To your most popular restaurant," Chadwick said.

"Chicago?" Nick asked coldly. True enough, Nick hadn't been there or in Vegas since she left. But he had to admit, Chicago was his most thriving hotel and restaurant because she helped him reshape it.

"Yeah. There is also a judge there that will be retiring soon and maybe, hust maybe, he can help me get that warrant signed."

Nick gave him a frown, "Seriously, all the way to Chicago?"

"He was the judge that presided over the case and it is under his jurisdiction. The man is quite difficult when someone wants to go through his old cases. Though this man is straight as a lance, he hates it when someone questions his decisions."

Nick frowned, and looked at him, "Just a week?"

"Just a week."

A small town in Chicago...

"Baseball is not about the competition, it is about having fun. So let's show those Lyons how we Black Birds have fun!" Anya shouted to the group of little leaguers.

"It's the last inning and you put Sheila up to bat? Are you crazy? She's half bind as a bat!" Pam said incredulously.

Anya chuckled, "That is why she's up to bat first. So that the rest of the team can save her. Besides, we did get her because she runs so fast so it will be a quick win once all the bases are filled."

"You idiot, she can't even hit the ball!" Sheila shouted.

Anya had forgotten. "Have faith, she still is your daughter," Anya said. "Besides, she is incredibly intelligent." Anya said as she watched the girl hit the ball, not with force but with enough energy to make the pitcher chase after it and let her run to first base. "Smart and fast," Anya said with satisfaction.
