I couldn't figure out how I let this happen to her. She'd always been happy, but she didn't want me to know that's why. The next day she called me.

"C-Carly can you come get me, I'm hurt and locked in my room. My dad
left."

"Taylor my mom left I can't get there, hang in there I gotta plan." She hung the phone up. I was scared. My mom had left town and went for business. She'd be home later tonight. I didn't have a plan, but I had to do something. I called the only person I could think of, Jesse.
"Jesse?" I said as soon as I thought he answered.
"Yeah?" He said in reply.
"I need help,"
"Are you okay?!" He said worriedly.
"I'm fine, it's Taylor she's home alone and hurt!"
"Well what happened?" He almost yelled.
"Jesse, her dad beats her."
"Okay, imma pick you up, then we will go get her." I grabbed my phone and called Taylor. I told her what was going to happen. I herd the big black pickup pull into the drive. I grabbed my phone and my wallet and went out the door. I ran straight to the truck I jumped in. Jesse pulled out. When we pulled up to Taylor's house, everything looked fine. The window to Taylor's bedroom was open. I started toward the house, when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey, be careful." Jesse was looking right in my eyes.

"I will" I turned back toward the house. I jiggled the front door knob. It opened. I looked around to make sure no one was there. Nothing. I ran right upstairs. Taylor was laying on the floor. there was blood on her face.
"JESSE!" I screamed. she was just laying there lifeless helpless. I started crying my best friend. She looked dead.
