General Ramos took a deep breath as he stared up that the place where Cristiano was being held, his stomach turned knowing that today was the day that he was saved from the nightmare that he was in.

He couldn't imagine what the last two months had been like for Cristiano and he hoped his friend had survived whatever had happened to him; he didn't want to take bad news back to Camelia.

Stepping back into the shadows, Sergio mentally prepared himself for what was too come and he knew that tonight would see the end of the rebellion; he had no idea just what might be waiting for them.

There was no way he could return to the Emperor without Cristiano, Sergio doubted that he would ever forgive himself if he left his friend to die here.

Camelia needed her husband back especially with another child on the way, she had two sons already that needed their father more than ever right now.

Looking to his commanding officers, Sergio knew that he wasn't going to mess this up; he would ensure that Palma never revolted again after what they had done.

"Prepare the men... we attack tonight," Sergio ordered before turning away, he had everything that he needed to win this and he wasn't going to do anything stupid; the main objective was to get Cristiano out of this alive.

He didn't want the other man killed during the rescue attempt, Sergio didn't think that he could forgive himself if that happened leaving Camelia without a husband and the children without a father.

The men left the tent knowing that they needed to be prepared, they could not fail and they could only imagine what was waiting for them inside of that room.

Closing his eyes, Cristiano ignored the sounds around him as he felt himself drifting; he was tired and just wanted to sleep, he couldn't remember the last time that he had been left alone like this.

Something was happening and Cristiano had been surprised to see that Carson was actually frightened about something; he wondered if the man had finally realised that he wasn't going to win this.

There was no doubt in his mind that Emperor Carlo would send another General to retake Palma after he had failed to do so; Cristiano could only hold onto a little bit of hope that he would be rescued.

His arm was infected and Cristiano didn't think that he would ever see Camelia or their sons again, he had come to accept that not wanting them to see the mess that he had become.

"We should kill him," a voice murmured outside of the room and Cristiano couldn't help but smile at the idea of that, he didn't even care if he died anymore.

He was sure that Camelia and their sons would be well looked after, he had more than enough money saved up to ensure that they would be well taken care of when he died.

"Are you stupid... we can use him to bargain our freedom," another voice argued and Cristiano couldn't help but wonder if they had any idea what they were doing anymore.

Carson was outside apparently railing the tropes to win the final battle and Cristiano had no doubt that the man would be dead before the battle was over; there was no way he would be allowed to live after what he had done.

Allowing his mind to drift, Cristiano thought about the people that he was going to be leaving behind and he prayed that Camelia would be okay; they hadn't really had much time to enjoy the fact they had been married.

It certainly wouldn't be easy for her to raise their two young sons alone, Cristiano was sure they would turn into great men.

The door to where he was being held opened and Cristiano didn't pay much attention to who it was, he just wanted to go to sleep and then this would all be over; his arms felt so heavy that he could barely move them.

"Cris?" Sergio whispered horrified at the sight before him, his stomach rolled at the smell and he had no doubts that it was the man that was sat before him.

He couldn't believe that Carson had done this and he almost regretted giving the man a quick death in battle; Sergio wanted what he had done to his friend and the trouble that he had caused.

Sergio quickly made his way over to Cristiano, his eyes quickly eyeing the infected stump that had been caused when his hand had been cut off; he doubted that this was going to be an easy fix.

"Mierda," Sergio muttered wanting to throw up when he was stood next to Cristiano, the smell was horrible and he had no doubts what the cause was.

Cristiano had been left to sit in his own faeces and no one around him seemed to care, it was going to take him a long time to recover from this and Sergio couldn't help but worry for his friend.

"Come on wake up," Sergio encouraged taking in the mess around them, he was almost surprised to see that Cristiano was alive and he doubted that would have been the case if he had waited any longer.

Cristiano barely moved, he was too tired to do anything and he just wanted to sleep; he could barely even lift his head to see who was speaking to him.

"Get a medic... we need to get him out of here now," Sergio ordered knowing that if they didn't act quickly then he would be taking Cristiano's dead body back to the capital and his widow.

He just hoped that Cristiano hadn't given in yet and that he would fight for his life when he realised that he had been rescued.

Camelia tried to focus herself on listening to what Junior was saying, however her mind was a million miles away and she knew that at any moment the news could arrive that her husband was dead.

She had spent quite a bit of time praying that Cristiano would come home to her, Camelia was frightened more of what would happen if he didn't than what would be coming home to her in anyway.

The doors to her chambers were pushed open and Junior glared at the man that rushed inside; he didn't know why everyone was so tense but he hoped it would go away soon.

Junior had heard the whispers that it was something to do with his father and that if everything went well that he could come home; he hoped that people were right since his father had been gone such a very long time.

"My Lady," the man said bowing to Camelia, he had come as soon as the Emperor had given in the wonderful news and he hoped that this would cheer her up; he stood straight as one of Camelia's maids moved to take Junior.

Camelia felt her heart pound in her chest, she felt sick not knowing what could be said and she hoped that this was good news; she signalled for Natasha to take Junior outside, she didn't want him to hear what might be said if it was bad news.

The idea of Cristiano being dead scared Camelia and she didn't know what she would do if that was the case; Dolores would surely make her life hell until the time came for her to pass on.

"They found him... they're going to bring him home," the man announced with a smile, he had been instructed to make sure that Camelia was the first person to hear the wonderful news.

They didn't need Dolores trying to get in the way when she was being held her for withholding Junior and Mateo's inheritance; the woman was a danger to Camelia and her children.

Camelia couldn't stop herself from breaking down in tears at the news, Cristiano was alive and he was coming home.
