Phoenix and her hair

Phoenix POV

I looked up at the evening sky while strolling through the palace gardens in its full glory. I stopped to admire a lime tree; the tree that is the same color as most of my hair except for the red, blue, gold, orange, and purple streaks running through it. My hair is my pride and joy since it is colorful just like my personality. I am a long legged girl with a nice face; I had blue eyes tinted green with prominent cheekbones and a natural blush that spread across them. My eyelashes were thick which I was thankful for and I also had natural pink, rosy lips. I watched as the sun set, knowing it was time to head back inside the palace.

I strutted through the gardens since princesses do not "walk"; especially when they are half peacock. It is the one thing I cannot hide that I wish to from humans. They think of me as arrogant by my strut which other peafowl find mesmerizing. Whenever I am in the human kingdoms I must disguise myself by going into my human form. It is necessary in order to avoid being attacked since we are at war with a human kingdom called England.

I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the voice of my sister calling to me. "Phoenix! Father and Mother are getting restless!" She crooned while giggling since I was probably going to get some very nasty looks when I entered the Banquet Hall. My sister was short compared to me despite our only four year age difference. She had my hair except with less color, fully green eyes speckled with gold flakes, and a nice face as well. I was proud to be her sister not only since she was beautiful, but because she had a warm caring heart underneath it all.

I called back to her, "Now, why would they care if I'm late to the table when we aren't receiving any guests?" This puzzled me tremendously. I began the long trek up the stairs to go to the Banquet Hall, but it was taking me longer than usually considering I was wearing a dress today instead of my usual designer jeans with a cute top. Nyla, my younger sister, was waiting for me by the regal, large, wooden doors that lead from the gardens to inside the palace when I arrived at the top of the steps. My little sister gave a slight shrug of her shoulders before speaking, "I don not know. Let's go and find out!"

As we started strutting towards the wooden doors, the guards that were beside them stood up and bowed in respect before returning to their posts. Together my sister and I strode through the doors without a second thought, kept going down the entrance way, and flung open the doors to the Banquet Hall, not knowing what was waiting for us.
