Van had no other choice but to leave with his heart ripped open by one single sentence from Eury. Just like that and his world shattered in an instant. He wondered when and how Eury became this powerful over him. She had obviously grown and changed a lot in the three years that he was gone and it pinches his heart every time he remembers that he wasn't there. It's her birthday today yet he must have surprised her not in the way he wanted her to be. He thought she would be happy at least. Maybe she is, but she's definitely more hurt. He swallowed his painful thoughts and walked away her closed door. He won't give up. He'll just give her time to take in the fact that he has come back. He told himself that whether Eury welcomes him with open arms—which is totally absurd, or not, he won't give up on pursuing her. He owes her a hell lot of apologies and explanations and now is not the time to stop. This has to be his only chance and hope left and he is dedicating his life now to making up to the girl—no, woman, he deeply loves.

He was too drowned in his thoughts as he was pacing down the corridor that he suddenly bumped into another person. They both muttered sorry to each other then he glanced at the guy. As if fate was playing with him, he bumped into Drew, his love's boyfriend. He must not have noticed that he was his girlfriend's overprotective brother because of how he looked like. As expected, Drew went straight to Eury's door. Never did he think that something that simple could break his heart.

Eury had grown up to be an independent young lady. It's as if she doesn't need him anymore and now, another guy must have taken hold of her heart already. He might not stand a chance against that but he's willing to do anything to bring back what he and Eury had, and have maybe more than that.

Drew opened the door to Eury's unit using the spare key he has and he was welcomed with a shock on his girlfriend's face as if she had seen a ghost. Drew felt instantly curious and worried so he asked, "What's wrong, Princess? Did something happen while I was gone?"

Eury tried to open her mouth but feared that she might stammer or worse, tell her boyfriend that her first love just showed up to her after three long years, looking awfully sick and she didn't know what to do. They might have even bumped into each other outside since Van had just left. There was so much she could say but what came out of her mouth was a mere breathy, "Nothing."

Drew wasn't entirely convinced but there was no reason to doubt his girlfriend so he just shrugged and placed the paper bags he brought on the couch as he went to fix the decorations on the wall of the living area. "I really thought there was an emergency at home. Turns out, mom just wanted me to rush there to get her gifts for you." He chuckled as he remembered the scene at their house earlier. "She said she'll prepare lunch for us since we'll have the party in the evening. I called our friends and they're excited to celebrate your birthday too."

Drew was obviously excited for the small event this evening but he's more than excited for tomorrow. Today, he decided to have a celebration here in Eury's unit and her girlfriend knows all about it but tomorrow, it's a very, very special day for him and he had already planned his surprise for Eury.

"You can check mom's gifts now," he gestured at the couch. Eury seemed to be spacing out but he heard what her boyfriend said and she went to the paper bags. She just couldn't keep her mind in one place, not today.

"Nina and Ivan will be here too. I think they've started going out." Drew's eyes were on the decorations but his mind was on everything he wanted to share to his girlfriend. "I guess they'll be going here together. Those two, they were acting so shy just days ago and now they're dating!"
